WILL THE TRUMP MUG SHOT FIND A PLACE IN BROWNSVILLE HISTORY?

After posing in front of bathroom mirror for hours to perfect the "look," reality TV star and presidential clown Donald J. Trump showed up at the Fulton County Jail in The Big Peach, commonly known as Atlanta, to get his picture taken and fingerprints memorialized.

Idiota Sarah Palin, floating on an iceberg in Alaska, invented a new word to describe the incident, "injust," while also suggesting that now Americans will be "afraid of their thoughts," pushing the Republican notion that Trump's actions have not been criminal, but simply an exercize of "free speech."

Who knows if, a photo Trump himself described as "like Churchill," meaning as in Sir Winston, even makes a ripple in Brownsville, maybe not even as much as the popular Facebook postings of those recently incarcerated by the Brownsville Police Department.

Oh, for certain, Tad Hasse and Roman Perez, the tweetle dee and tweetle dum of Brownsville politics, will collectively wince when they see it, but then order matching 8X10's for their bathroom walls to remember their hero.

Trump's mug will have some competition here "on the border, by the sea," especially considering the impact of one Carlos Quintanilla, convicted RICO felon, who tried to sell Brownsville on the hilarious notion of engaging a 4 day old airline called Fly Frontera, while paying $1,500,000 upfront money for fuel, parts, plane rental, etc., but also reimbursing the fledgling company $135 for each ticket NOT SOLD.

Although citizens rose to block that bad deal, Quintanilla was later engaged by Ted Parker of Healthsmart, an insurance firm accused of $14,300,000 in overcharges to the Brownsville Independent School District.

Utilizing a P.A.C. to back school board candidates Catalina Presas-Garcia, Lucy Longoria and Christina Saavedra, Quintanilla created an overriding majority to settle that lawsuit for a mere pittance.  Mission accomplished to the detriment of BISD taxpayers!

Certainly, the Carlos Quintannilla mugshot has a secure place in Brownsville's infamous history!

Former Brownsville Mayor Pat Ahumada

By no means are we minimizing the importance of the jail photo of former Brownsville Mayor Pat Ahumada, not sure if the mug shot aboves stems from one of several arrests for driving while intoxicated or his alleged theft of a $26,000 check made out to the City of Brownsville.

Actually, it's impossible to judge the relative impact of the mug shots considered in this article, at least not in 2023.

Let's allow historians in 2073 to decide which mug shot most impacted our city.  It may not even prove to be one of the three above.
