Ron DeSantis, a Republican candidate for President, says knows how to stop illegal immigration and has released his plan titled "Stop the Invasion."
For one, DeSantis claims he "wants to fight criminal groups in Mexico."
How does young Mr. DeSantis propose to do that?
Is he going to send U.S troops into Mexico to "fight" the cartels?
Does he not understand that such action would violate Mexico's sovereignty, just as sending Mexican forces into the U.S. would violate ours?
Mimicking Trump, Ron also says he will build a wall along the southern border, but, at least, does not pretend Mexico will pay for it.
"Joe Biden has failed to meet the most basic responsibility of ensuring the territorial integrity of our country," stated DeSantis at a town hall campaign event in Eagle Pass.
Notably absent from the strategy is any mention of arms trafficking, which is of major concern to the Mexican government given that around 70-80% of firearms in cartel arsenals originate in the United States.
This bilateral issue has been identified by security experts as a main contributor to continuing violence in Mexico.
