Someone sent me this picture of the breakfast menu from the Lobo del Mar Café, an eatery on South Padre Island, including the caveat to "avoid this place" because the owners are "avid Trumpers."
The "South of the Border Wall" breakfast menu appears to be an attempt at humor, well protected by the First Amendment.
Does the menu's phrasing strike you as funny, offensive, racist or none of the above?

Insensitive at best. Malicious at worst. Fuck that noise.
ReplyDeleteI liked the place better when it was the "Palm Street Pier and Grill" - grubby, down to earth - a place for a cold one on a sunny afternoon. Whatever it is now - trying to go upscale, and some weak attempt at deprecating humor that falls flat - I'll take my business to Wanna Wanna or Boomerang Billie's, even though the latter has lost a lot of luster from the "old days."
ReplyDeleteHey, eat my shit! Just saying.
