"WHINE AND CHEEZ" PODCAST REACHES OUT TO PUB GM BRUCIAK AND MAYOR MARTINEZ FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION ON TENASKA

From the editor:  The "Whine and Cheez" podcast is 2/3 set for 3/24/19 with District 2 City Commissioner candidates Jessica Tetreau and Pat Ahumada committing.  Caty Presas-Garcia will get back to us by 3/21 if she will be able to appear.

As many have noticed, the Tenaska Power Plant deal has been a frequent topic for discussion on the podcast, but very little real information has surfaced.

After discussing this with Erasmo, we agreed to approach BPUB General Manager John Bruciak and Mayor Tony Martinez about appearing on the podcast for more clarity on this subject.

That podcast is tentatively set for 4/14/19.

There will be no podcast 3/31/19 as Erasmo will be in Philadelphia.

Below is a copy of the email we sent jointly to Mssrs. Bruciak and Martinez:

John Bruciak
General Manager/CEO
Brownsville Public Utilities Board

Tony Martinez
Mayor of Brownsville/Ex-Officio Member Brownsville Public Utilities Board

Gentlemen:

Erasmo Castro and I moderate a livestream podcast emanating from Angelita's Casa de Cafe, 2200 Boca Chica Blvd., Sundays at 1:30 PM.

A prime topic for discussion has been the Tenaska Power Plant deal initiated January 2013, coupled with incremental utility rate increases over five years.

There is considerable confusion on this topic.

In a recent podcast, City Commissioner Jessica Tetreau indicated that as much as $100,000.000 had been generated by the rate increases, whereas current BPUB Board Member Nurith Galonsky, in a subsequent podcast, placed the figure at closer to $25,000,000.

We would like to invite both of you gentlemen to our 4/14/19 podcast to provide the rate-paying public with true facts regarding the following:

1.  What is the current status of the Tenaska Power Plant?
2.  How much money has been generated by the utility rate increases?
3.  Has any of the funding generated been spent, and, if so, how?
4.  How much is left of the money generated by the rate increases?
5.  Proof of what exactly was told the rate-paying public at the time of the rate raises.

Eagerly awaiting your responses,

Jim Barton

  1. I no longer believe Trump will resign, as I long believed he would. At this stage, if Trump leaves office, he will almost certainly be criminally indicted and in all likelihood spend his golden years in prison. The Mueller report will be worse than we can imagine and will continue to erode Trump’s support, already the worst of any modern president, and he will lose to whichever Democratic candidate wins the nomination. One caveat: If Donald Jr., Jared, and/or Ivanka get indicted, there is a remote chance Trump could resign in a deal to spare them. However, that would be an act of selflessness — something Trump hasn’t evidenced in his first seven decades on earth.

    3. At least if the Mueller report shows there was no Trump Russian collusion then all the haters will start supporting our President right? Or will they still whine about something else? What do you think Jim?

    1. This is written for Brownsville, not some nurse's reject wallowing in the slums of Hidalgo County. Get a life, dude! Read a book! Find a blind woman somewhere!

  3. Thank you!!! It is about time we get to the bottom of this Tenaska fiasco

Also how watts would $100,000,000 dollars of solar panels have generated in Brownsville by now? If we had decided to invest that money to produce our own energy instead of continuing to pay for a power plant that is not even built??

  5. How about all the raises Bruciak has voted for himself with Nurith and DaMayor sitting right there. How does somebody get a 50K raise year after year after year for doing nothing?
