STATE OF THE PORT ADDRESS AT AMBASSADOR EVENT CENTER

Seated with the Matamoros delegation to the State of the Port Address, my friend Jerry Danarche, a Matamoros lawyer and Brownsville/Matamoros talk show host, introduced us.(The man in the red vest is the Mayor of Matamoros)

The keynote speaker was Jon Roberts, a Seattle native form TIP Strategies, Inc.

Port Director Eduardo Campanero and board chairman John Reed talked about the progress of the port.

Port Police Chief Carlos Garcia will give  Danarche and me a tour soon.

Robert Sanchez invited me to his new restaurant, Ostioneria Moscambo, while Ernesto Elizondo played off his new vehicle as just a "lil Benz."

Ana is texting me during the event revealing her wicked humor.  I can't repeat her observations, but they're hilarious!

I also get a text from Commissioner Ben Neece:

"We have a new ethics code,. . . . . Yay!"  ben@benneece.com

I had to choose between the City Commission meeting and this State of the Port Address, but I never turn an invitation from Jerry Danarche down.  It was an honor to sit at the table of the Mexican delegation.(BTW, Port Director Campanero called out the names of local politicos, but somehow forgot our brothers from Matamoros.  Later, he made his way to the podium to correct that error.)

Once home, I get a text from Jerry Danarche:  "Just to let you know, Mayor Martinez just walked in."
