Dagoberto Barrera |
Although himself from Mexico, he now viewed his former people, just across the river, as "not of our culture. They eat with their fingers, their heads bobbing up and down to the table like ducks."
Although we all laughed, it was sad to witness such ignorance, especially from a retired school teacher who influenced many in his life.
Local blogfather Jerry McHale now mirrors Dagoberto, referring to young men of Mexican descent running for office in our community as "Los Juniors."
Carlos, Monica Guerrero |
Who are "Los Juniors?" Without reading Jerry's mind, I think about the narco-juniors or narcolitos, young men who try to impress the drug cartel leaders or narcos by committing criminal acts to be eventually accepted as a full-time cartel member.
Jessica Puente-Bradshaw |
Jerry may himself be slinging bullshit Carlos' way because he's supporting John Cowen in this race.(Dirty game, no?)
Anyway, you can make your own assessment of Carlos this Sunday at 1.30 PM on the Whine and Cheez podcast. Carlos will be appearing along with Jessica Puente-Bradshaw, both candidates for City Commissioner At Large "A."(We did reach out to the other two candidates in the race, John Cowen and Ismael Hinojosa, but they were unable to make it.)
What happened to the city manager podcast you scheduled, Barton?
ReplyDeleteWe wanted to have the City Manager, the GBIC Director and the interim BCIC Director all on the same show, March 10. The City Manager decided that he best not participate until after the May 4 elections, so nothing he said could be construed as political. The interim BCIC Director said he would answer any questions about current projects but not appear on a live show. The GBIC Director never responded at all.
DeleteBy Tuesday, we knew the original show concept was not working so we invited all four of the City Commissioner At Large "A" candidates. John Cowen declined due to prior commitments. Ismael Hinojosa was sick at first, then said he had to attend his aunt's birthday. Carlos Guerrero and Jessica Puente-Bradshaw agreed to attend.
You invited them but never booked them? Why announce the invitation on your blog? Was this so you could shame them for not participating?
ReplyDeleteBarton gave the impression he had a podcast all set with three willing participants. Now we know it was only an invitation. What a joke.
ReplyDeleteNo reason to get excited
DeleteThe thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
Barton, you’re manipulating these people into appearing on your show by announcing an “invitation.” Why are you trying to embarrass them for not appearing on your show? They didn’t ask to be on your Sunday show. They didn’t ask for you to blast them for not agreeing to show up at your Sunday show.
ReplyDeleteFuck the podcast! It's Erasmo! LOL
DeleteYou're using tactics no different that McHale who puts up political advertising on his blog even though candidates didn't ask for them and if they refuse to pony up some money he shames them on his blog and on Facebook which then closes him for a while and then he goes at it again. You and McHale are two old gringos who for some reasons stupid Mexicans listen to.
ReplyDeleteMr. Barton Congratulations, to you and Erasmo, for making people able thru your program, to hear directly from the candidates their opinions and possible solutions for City's issues, Jerry McHale's RACIST attacks on Mexican Americans are seen by people as acts of HATE, his attacks to Mexican American people only shows his deep hate for any non white human being, his WHITE SUPREMACY mentality steers him to invent stories about persons he has never met, abusing his rights to free speech, he slander, humiliate Mexican Americans, his tendency to denigrate innocent young Mexican Americans is a clear sign of his WHITE SUPREMACIST affiliation.
