No, not Fate, brothers and sisters, wrong turns, missteps, miscalculations, forgotten invitations. Those are the seeds that produce bad fruit.
If Robert Sanchez, AKA Captain Bob gets his well-earned invite to the Ambassador Event Center August 30, Spazgate never happens.
Rinse and repeat. If Brother Robert had taken his rightful place at a table next to Brother Tad Hasse and closer-than-a-brother Chris Valadez at the Cascos fundraiser featuring Austin's Spazmatics, even getting up to shake his booty, like Bobby Wightman-Cervantes, none of this shit comes out.
But, Robert Sanchez was royally pissed that he didn't get an invite to the $145 per ticket event at the Ambassador, a snub he couldn't fathom, especially since he'd put himself so dutifully on the line as a sacrificial lamb candidate in a feeble attempt to deplete the resources of Democrat County Judge Eddie Trevino.
Campaign finance reports don't indicate that Trevino so much as bought a flyswatter to deal with Sanchez, quietly raising $55,000 during the primary to add to a $70,000 personal loan. During the same time period Captain Bob raised $0.00.
"I'm totally embarrassed by this incident," stated Rebecca Gomez during an extended phone conversation yesterday.
"I'm a lifelong Democrat and don't believe in this."
"I got involved because I'm a friend of Bob's and I didn't want to leave him alone with Tad Hasse, who I don't trust," she added.
"Bob was going through a terrible divorce and, somehow felt he was running a campaign against Rene Oliveira. I don't know where Hasse got the money. It took him about a week to get it and, then, he stuffed it into my purse," Gomez stated.
The sham candidacy of Robert "Captain Bob" Sanchez against Eddie Trevino was about as useful as the Watergate burglary forty years ago and just as dumb.
Of course, none of this is currently traceable to Carlos Cascos, just the "work" of heyboys Valadez and Hasse. Yet, no local Cameron County Republican even breathes without permission from Cascos to exhale or inhale.

ReplyDeleteWhat's the big deal. No one broke any laws. If anyone violated any law it may have been Sanchez for not reporting the contribution or the filing fee expenditure. As far as any republicans getting Sanchez to run, so what? No one said a word when Democrats recruited a bartender from SPI to run as a Republican against the then incumbent Cascos. Did anyone say anything? Did that guy file any campaign reports? All you with your conspiracy theories are pathetic. Sanchez is not a puppet, he knew what he was doing. I admire him for having the courage to do it in spite of dealing with other issues.
