WILL CHINA'S PROPOSED 25% TARIFF ON LNG IMPACT THE PORT OF BROWNSVILLE?

China's latest response to Donald Trump's proposed new tariffs is to slap a 25% tariff on liquefied natural gas from the United States.

That could have a big effect on the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast, currently building LNG plants as fast as they can get permits and tax abatements from gullible, greedy politicos.

Currently under contruction, the LNG plant pictured above near Corpus Christi, another at the Woodlands outside Houston and firming up plans, two projects at the Port of Brownsville.

Houston business expert, Jason Feer, predicts that Chinese buyers of LNG will "drag their feet" on signing contracts with U.S. companies to import LNG in the current Trump-induced business climate.

Giles Farrer, a research director for Wood Mackenzie, said the Chinese-imposed tariffs could render U.S. the "marginal supply source into China."
