CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL CHECKING BROWNSVILLE FOR CARRIERS OF ZIKA VIRUS

Workmen from the Center for Disease Control

I first noticed the insect trap, with a light bulb on top, last night, around midnight, on my way back from the pool.  Since it was positioned under a grapefruit tree next to my metal house, I wasn't sure if it was to catch zika-infected mosquitoes or the almost equally-dreaded Mexican fruit flies. . .

This morning two workmen from the Center for Disease Contol retrieved the trap, obviously containing some mosquitoes.  They verified that they were indeed looking for zika-infected mosquitoes.

Within a few minutes, they were joined by a representative of the City of Brownsville Health Department.
