REASONING ON THE PHONY CHARGE THAT SBOE CANDIDATE TAD HASSE IS RACIST

From the editor:  We're continuing our series of pretending to speak for politicians, who, for the most part, have been silent on a question raised during the current campaign.

This time, we will analyze a charge of racism brought against State Board of Education candidate  Tad Hasse, a charge not coming from anyone in town who knows Hasse,  but emanating from a McAllen troll.

When Tad made an ill-advised joke on the campaign trail about "exterminating Democrats," the McAllenite hinted Tad was a Nazi.

Hasse was lukewarm to my suggestion that the charge of racism should be dealt with head-on, and, when I ran it by his campaign manager, James Zavaleta, he simply said "that guy isn't writing much anymore."

Tad Hasse
So, I'll give it a shot.( A person charged with racism can't defend themselves anyway, by simply saying "I'm not racist," or, even, "some of my best friends are Hispanic."  Your way of life has to speak for itself and for you.)

Fact:  Hasse has chosen to live the last several decades in a city 90% Hispanic.  Fact:  His direct supervisor with the city is a Mexican National.  Fact:  He interacts with Hispanics on a daily basis and most seem to like him.

For me, the strongest evidence of Hasse not being racist is the humane way he administers city court's community service program.  I've personally observed him dealing with locals willing to perform public service in lieu of jail time. He is not condescending and DOES NOT assign them to toilet cleaning. Hasse deals with these public service citizens as equals, respectfully and graciously.

On one occasion, I was in Hasse's office when an assignee entered.  Hasse, without betraying the situation, called the man by his first name, asking him politely to take a laptop to a certain office, adding under his breath "and that will be it for today."

Sheriff Joe Arpaio
Now, try to visualize in your minds how a racist like Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona might have handled the same situation.  First of all, Sheriff Joe would have fought like hell against community service in lieu of a jail sentence.

Does it not seem logical that Sheriff Joe would not only HAVE assigned toilet duty, he would have been there will a bull whip, shoving offender's heads down into the toilet bowl, uttering expletives?

Can we not all see the difference between a racist and one who is not?

The McAllen troll blogger used the descriptive phrase neo-Nazi, while referencing the Germanic origin of the name Hasse, adding Tad's support of Donald Trump as proof of his racism and hate group sentiments.

Jessica Puente-Bradshaw
OK, if Hasse is a racist and Nazi because he supports Trump, what about Brownsville ladies Letty Garzoria-Perez, Maggie Ozuna and Jessica Puente-Bradshaw, all Trump supporters?  Does that make them racists and Nazis too?

Ridiculous.

  2. And Hasse's Twitter account, Jim. The one he locked after the McAllen guy published his racist shit? Don't be so gullible.
