Unlike many Americans who could not make their mortgage payments, Carlos Quintanilla will likely not lose his house. Monies destined for use by the children of the Brownsville Independent School District will be diverted in a clandestine way by the BISD Board of Trustees back to Healthsmart by the dismissal of the $14,000,000 lawsuit the school district had filed to recover two years of discovered overcharges by the provider. Quintanilla may very well have accomplished his mission, sniffing around the BISD the past couple of years, luring trustees into entanglement, promoting cooperative candidates to replace those not Q-friendly. If Ted Parker invested in Quintanilla to squelch the lawsuit against Healthsmart, that investment may pay off handsomely.
In Brownsville, everyone seems to know a trustee, an administrator, an operative influenced by Quintanilla. What I usually hear is that their friend was conned, duped, drinking the Kool-Aid Quintanilla pours. That is difficult to believe. These are grown-up people, professionals, who routinely do background checks on janitorial staff. Quintanilla is not only a convicted R.I.C.O felon, he looks and acts the part with obvious misrepresentations flying out of his mouth like sparks from a welding rod. What I believe is that many simply succumbed to temptation, just as those in Mark Twain's fictictious town of Hadleyburg. I believe the BISD Board of Trustees is rendered ineffectual by an "I will tell on you if you tell on me" mentality, making individual trustees fearful of doing what's right lest their own sins be made public. Thus, we have paralysis, acquiescence and cowardice displayed.

But, alas, there may be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel and it may not be an oncoming freight train! What if, as I've heard, Judge Carlos Cascos is allowed to appoint an interim district attorney should Villalobos finally declare for a higher office? What if that interim appointee is interested in actually doing the job?

ReplyDeleteI told a reader I would eat crow if I learned that in the case of Cameron County interim DA's are appointed by Commissioners Court. I just got off the phone with Governor Perry's office. They are familiar with the situation. the decision belongs to Commissioners court.

ReplyDeleteWe need to take advantage of this DA mess and find someone, anyone, who can actually get a meeting between Congressman Farenthold and you Jim so that you can give him the evidence and allow him to call on the FBI to take immediate action. Independents and soft Democrats will vote for Farenthold if he takes a stand. He needs to make an issue of DA Villalobos' silence and in fact near complicity in the BISD mess. Any normal DA would already have Quintanilla before a grand jury on claims of perjury.

Assistant to Judge Cascos), TSC Trustees Adela Garza, Sylvia Atkinson, Pat Lehmann, Judge Ben Neece and too many to mention, the list goes on and on and on, all play a row in electing Escobedo, Longoria, and Saavedra. They supported and help create the PAC along with Carlos Quintanilla. Their goal was to settle the lawsuits at BISD and make Cadillac Caty Presas-Garcia President. It is a depressing that a lot of people would play unfair and tells untruths to win!!! Welcome to politics!!!!!!!

This just in...Michelle Seney was named principal of STAMP magnet school last night at a parent meeting at hanna. Guess alacron didnt get her way this time !!! Name misspelled intentionally. But, were told as parents last night that our kids could stay at hanna. Dont want to move my kid to veterans, but want that woman out. What to do???

Why aren't Brownsville residents demanding resignations and showing their "no confidence." Why wait until November elections?

ReplyDeleteThere is a lot more to the story than just the $14,000,000 million the District will never recover if the Healthsmart suit is dropped. What do you know about how the current health insurance contract and supplement insurance contracts were awarded?
Mary Rey has already said in her deposition that she met with Longoria and Co-Defendant David Hall (who offices out of Joe Salazar's Harlingen Colonial Life & Accident's Office) at Cheddar's in January of this year. Did this meeting determine not only that the Healthsmart Lawsuit would be dropped, but also who (which agent) would get the contracts for all the health and supplemental insurance?
Did this meeting set the ground work for Longoria being on the Board Insurance Committee and Ms. Rey serving on the Insurance Ad Hoc Committee? Did this meeting determine that the Disability Carrier would be replaced for the first time in a decade? That's a lot of money that could be freed up for the bad players use prior to any Healthsmart payoff.
There are $100's of thousands of dollars in commission that went with those decisions, all of which it appears you or Ms. Rey should be able to shed some light. Let the public have that info and the co-conspirators will run like cockroaches out of the light. Then, maybe they'll be smart enough to not to drop the Healthsmart Lawsuit.
Het, Troiani is no better than Mando. He can stand up for the children of Brownsville and take Mando to task on his failure to go after BISD corruption and Quintanilla. The 27th Congressional Distrist needs to go to a Republican. Until the Democrats produce someone who will stand with the people, the people should not vote for them. The people need to demand Troiani take Mando to task on his incompetence before Tuesday's vote to dismiss the Healthsmart lawsuit.

Everyone be very careful! Quintanilla is a felon and is down here in the Valley associating with all the corrupt individuals he can find. He is desperate for money and is not above going to the Cartel or Zeta's for money help. He has no problem joining any clan as long as they give him money. Remember two of the current board members have no real jobs nor any type of regular income coming into they bank accounts. Careful these people are desperate and have made deals with people in low places and they can not get out. Once you join these groups there is only two ways out. These two board members do not want either way out; it is bad for them. What can they do???? Think about it!

ReplyDeleteMary Rey was appointed to the AD Hoc commitee in March, 2011. Her first attendance was March 10, 2011, after her second meeting, Mary Rey immediately resigned. She also resigned from the Bond Oversight Committee the same day.
A phone call followed by a letter were sent to both committees chair to 1900 Price Rd. Brownsville, Texas 78521(resignation can be verified as it's on record during one of the BISD meetings)
Let it be known that Mary Rey, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, many people, WILL NOT be intimidated. Period!

Getting elected to the school board is not an effective way to measure a person's worth or skill set. People on this blog are failing to remember the real guts and meat of the issue, but for people who turn a blind eye to a convicted felon running around in the midst of your children, I guess it would make sense that people on this blog (including you, Carlos Q.), dont want to go back and put the pieces together.
ReplyDeleteCarlos Q., yes, you Carlos, is a convicted felon brought up on R.I.C.C.O charges for defrauding and stealing $700,000 from a company in Chicago. This company in Chicago operated a fund to provide monies to individuals/organizations that would present proposals to establish worthwhile programs and initiatives in the Chicago communities, preferably for the benefit of children. Carlos and his gang, presented a proposal to this company to obtain money from their fund under the guise that Carlos and gang would take this money and set up programs for Hispanic children in his community. The children never got the money, Carlos Q. absconded (that's a big word for you Caty Presas-Garcia, but it means steal),the Company brought charges, Carlos was convicted, and thus now a known felon.
Who in the world on this blog doesn't see the obvious? Carlos is all about usuing his heritage and the hispanic heritage to rip off people in the name and the sake of hispanic children.
Convicted felon aside, I personally think it takes a pretty low human being to promote a supposed program for low income Hispanic children, get a corporation to fund your proposal, and then take the money from the very Hispanic children you say you want to help, when you yourself are a Hispanic. Carlos is the poorest excuse for anyone trying to promote a positive image for Hispanics. --- He ripped off Hispanic children in Chicago, and he just did it again, by way of a dismissed Healthsmart lawsuit. Except for the people in Chicago really cared about their kids. For anyone who is still in denial, below is the direct quote from Carlos Q.'s appeal, which he lost and his felony conviction was upheld. I am going to give myself a slap on the wrist for not getting the references down right. Carlos Q. ran a "scam" against the Hispanic children of Chicago. I can hear your frustation in your post. But look to the FBI petition - no one will sign it. Brownsville takes pride in being victims. They have spent two generations now waiting on the government to do everything for them. They will never fight even for their own children. Carlos Quintanilla may be a poor excuse of a human being, but the people of Brownsville are even bigger excuses of human beings.

Tony Martinez can show Brownsville he cares by using his resources to get an injunction against the BISD Board from acting. The mere filing of the lawsuit will send shock waves through the board. Where are all the millionaire lawyers in Brownsville like Martinez, Cowen etc. They will never put their name in defense of the people. They exist to make money on the people.
Where are the unions? They demand we the people stand with them, but now that we the people need their organizations to help organize the people to defend our children they are dead silent. The people need to remember the silence of the unions, including the teachers unions and never again vote to support them.
OK people. I'm close to Cata. I asked her point blank about this Quintanilla guy. She says that he was a means to an end. He actually did some good things but has no influence on their decision making now. Cata is many things but not a liar.
