BROWNSVILLE DIESEL-ELECTRIC HYBRID BUS FILLED WITH GASOLINE? "NEVER HAPPENED!" SAY MECHANICS AT BUS SHOP

Brownsville Metro's 5 Hybrid Diesel-Electric Buses Purchased with $3.5 Million Tiger Grant

A reader messaged to say he thought he'd seen Brownsville Metro's new hybrid buses parked behind the BUS shop on 700 Jose Colunga Jr. Street for the past two weeks.  He wondered how long the buses had been parked there out-of-service.

Since Brownsville Metro Director Norma Zamora did not take our calls and moving down the chain of command brought no results, we decided to head out to the shop on Jose Colunga Jr. Street to see for ourselves.

Two mechanics, just clocking in at the shop, were very forthcoming.(They asked that their names not be used in the story.  "I want to keep my job," stated one mechanic.)

Both said the new buses had not been parked on the grass for nearly a year since approved by the City Commission in March 2019.

One worker recalled seeing them for the first time after returning from vacation "the first part of January 2020."

"It can take almost a year to get buses after ordering," stated the mechanic.

Neither mechanic knew when the new hybrid buses would be pressed into service or were aware of anything holding that process up.

Both mechanics were eager to correct what they said was an incorrect report in Juan Montoya's El Rrun Rrun June 25, 2019 blog about one of the diesel-electric buses being accidentally filled with gasoline possibly ruining the engine.

"That never happened here," stated one of the men.

"That happened in McAllen fueling one of the Metro Connect orange buses, #237.  Our hybrids hadn't even  been delivered," he stated.

"These hybrids CANNOT be fueled with gasoline.  The connection does not allow it.  They are fueled with a Fast-Fill connector similar to what is used on jet planes," continued the mechanic.

"I knew the story was out there.  My brother sent it to me, but it never happened.  We're happy to get this finally cleared up."

  1. Ha! I read the headline on the John Bolton testimony in the Trump impeachment and was like, no shit! Republicans have long since abandoned objective reality. If there was video tape of Trump in a room with Zelensky and Trump was explicitly saying, "If you want aid, you must announce an investigation into Joe Biden." It wouldn't sway any Trump supporter. We had "grab them by the pussy" before the election and that didn't sway them. Trump is a small minded, crude, unprincipled, petty, vindictive person, and everyone knew it. They wanted a small minded, crude, unprincipled, petty, vindictive person. Just as everyone knows Trump withheld aid to get the Ukrainians to investigate Biden. The only way you couldn't know this is if you've had your head buried in the ground. There are commenters here that refuse to accept it. If Trump didn't want to be impeached, them he shouldn't have done that shit. It's very simple. And, if Senate Republicans don't want to participate in the coverup, they'll vote to convict. If this was all on the up and up, Bolton, Giuliani, Mulvaney, and Trump would be breaking the door down to testify...

    1. Dude, give it up. You and your loony Dems are just so incredibly screwed. You lost, now and for all time. Your party committed suicide by enema. A purge is coming and treason and sedition are very real charges that carry severe and sometimes permanent penalties. Go back to masturbating in the closest listening to sound tracks of Al Gore conning people with carbon credits.

    2. Speaking to reporters after Donald Trump’s lawyers completed their opening arguments in his impeachment trial on Tuesday, Chuck Schumer, the Senate Minority Leader, could barely conceal a smile. “I hope we have just four Republicans. All we need is four,” he said. At another press conference, Adam Schiff, the leader of the House managers, said it was clear that the President’s lawyers were “still reeling from the revelations of John Bolton’s book.” John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, said on Monday that he believed Bolton’s claim, first reported in the Times, that Trump told his former national-security adviser that he wouldn’t release military aid to Ukraine unless the Ukrainian government pursued an investigation of the Bidens. Schiff called this “extraordinary.”

That term also describes the pickle in which Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, and the rest of Trump’s Republican enablers now find themselves. “Mortifying” is another word that could be used. Rarely, if ever, has a political blood oath - in this case, a pledge to acquit a crooked President regardless of the evidence against him, and without even bothering to call any witnesses - rebounded so horribly, publicly, and spectacularly. Like Trump, when the whistle-blower’s complaint originally emerged, McConnell and his colleagues have been caught in the act. And it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving bunch...

  2. Trump desperately trying to stop former advisor John Bolton's damning book:

Logic in Trumpworld has no foothold. It's perfectly reasonable to have things both ways, which is why a philandering lying old pornhound is described as an honorable and decent man.

Don't believe me? Ask 53 GOP senators, 197 congressmen, and all the FoxNews personalities. They'll tell you.

  3. From Jerry's blog:

Diego Garcia, the publisher of The Brownsville Beacon which has pushed past The Brownsville Voice and The Brownsville Observer in popularity as the Border City's Blogosphere always welcomes new blood, reports that the ubiquitous Erasmo Castro is at it again.
