NEWLY HIRED GBIC DIRECTOR, LIKE PRESIDENT TRUMP, A PROLIFIC TWEETER

Brownsville's New $250,000 Man
A quarter of a million dollars is a lot of money to residents of Cameron County, the nation's poorest.  That is the approximate salary commanded by Mario Alberto Lozoya recently hired as the new director of the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation.

 Lozoya will be leading an entity charged with wisely allocating approximately $5 million in taxpayer dollars annually on economic development projects.  His predecessor, Gilbert Salinas, was not getting the job done in the eyes of the GBIC Board, linked in the minds of some with terminated BEDC director Jason Hilts.

 Some murmurs are already being heard about Lozoya, a native of Mexico, not having a college degree.  Yet, as pointed out in a Brownsville Herald bio, he does have extensive military service.  

 In terms of economic development, though, it's not about credentials, but performance, growing our local economy and creating jobs.

 Will Lozoya actually commit to Brownsville's development, buy a home here, enroll his kids in local schools as well as find job-creating industry?

 This tweet, by Mr. Lozoya, to Representative Ina Minjarez of San Antonio, shows that he plans to keep his house in House District 124, San Antonio.

Many locals remember Mike Gonzalez, the Director of United Brownsville, who continued to live and vote in Kyle, Texas while claiming to promote Brownsville.  

Will Lozoya do something similar by living and voting in San Antonio while drawing an enormous salary from Brownsville?

Also notable on Lozoya's twitter account is a message to model SelenaXXXUSA.

Lozoya reaches out to the model with a simple: "Hola!"

Since Trump favorite Stormy Daniels has cancelled her appearances in the valley, perhaps Lozoya can get Ms. Selena to take her place.

    The GBIC and BEDC should be shout down and the 1/4 cent of sales tax put into the city's general fund. Brownsville's politicos just use the money to travel the world pretending to look for investors. Just put the god damn money back. Harlingen and McAllen know how to do this. Brownsville doesn't.
