  4. "Igniting the future of the Rio Grande Valley" sounded more like an LNG disaster. They may have just said "Sacrificing the Valley to Dirty, Dangerous, Polluting Industry" or "Sacrificing thousands of existing business' and jobs for a few hundred bad jobs sounds good to us" Making a new slogan was the worst idea besides bringing in industry that will ruin everything we have going for us already. We need new representatives !!

  5. All Right! Great city council discussion. Cesar is a great councilman, actually, for or against, they are all doing what they believe is right.

  6. If these "kids" only knew how badly Tony Martinez speaks of them when they are not present. I've always wondered how it doesn't get back to them or if it does and they are just bought off and don't give a shit.

  7. This meeting was a crock of shit the commissioners are trying to pass thru the public . Villarreal is an idiot that doesn't get it. It's not that the people like the old logo pendejo , it's that the people don't want another million dollar scam pulled on them like "Imagine Brownsville ".......Fuck the logo! They are still going thru on the 800,000.00 "marketing plan" for one of their own! Fix the drainage in the city, build sidewalks , etc...quit giving money to the white-collar crooks Marin , Garcia,Oliveira ! City commission needs to be investigated and charged for m is - appropriations of taxpayers funds. This change of the vote for the logo was just a ruse to calm people down . Greedy,soul-less , and hopelessly corrupt . ...ugh !

    1. See the meeting on TV about the city logo,Mr DeLeon did a good job explaining the real reason why you serve. You are elected to help and serve your constituents not serve yourself and the few people who kiss your ass but the majority. If Mr DeLeon stays on this path with integrity, the respect he gives to constituents and common sense and practicality of tax payers monies,I see him going to bigger and better things in the long run.We must support him if he stays true this guys heart seems to be in the right place .He doesn't seem to have that Brownsville hater attitude like others on commish, kudos to his parents.

  8. Mr. De Leon did the right thing and asked some serious questions that should be answered. Villarreal should be remembered for bringing this back to the table and Tutreau for making it very public with her online poll which kick started things. They need to take a stand and we should back those kinds of moves if they're to come into their own direction of leadership etc etc blah blah blah. Oh yeah and another thing - NO to LNG!

  10. The comments by the commissioners seems to indicate that they "didn't know what they were doing" when they voted to accept the Hahn proposal; or they were "snowed" by Mr. Oliviera and his "dog and pony" show.
This "act of contrition" by members of the commission is great and perhaps will lead to a commission that listens to the public.

    1. Rose and Debbie knew exactly what they were doing as they have nothing to do with the people. There are two that listen to the people, one who sometimes listens to the wrong people and one who calls them "my people".

  11. The process was not transparent, despite Gowen and Portillo's pathetic attempt to make it sound so (Ugh!). They, originally, tried to slip this through as a Consent Item, until Cesar caught them and stopped it. They did not reveal the logo to anyone, until Cesar made a Public Information Request for it. Then Jessica and others were able to disseminate it, after which, the public were revulsed by it amateurish design. Rick was not "representing" the City at the Dies y Seis Festivities of the Mexican Consulate, as stated by his Siamese Twin, Jessica, but rather making money off them (as DJ for the event) and shirking his responsibility to his unfortunate constituents regarding the logo. You can, plainly, see that, for once, Portillo was "unscripted" (by Marin) and babbled her way through the item discussion, still not realizing they were re-adopting the old logo. She still wanted to try to "re-brand" the image of Brownsville, but this time (after getting caught with her pants down) decides to allow the participation of the public. Pathetic. We deserve better.

  12. Ricardo "The Rat" Longoria(may the force be with you) is probably in all this because money talks.. that's his motto.. Since the heat is getting hotter.. he backs down because he has no balls.
