It's not as if current District Attorney Saenz, utilizing his spotlight-craving Public Information Officer, Melissa Landin, hasn't talked a good game. His office, through Landin's press releases and "briefings" have seemingly been one continuous infomercial, more flash than substance, or, as an old Texas cattleman might say, "all hat, no cattle."
"Operation Bishop," Saenz ballyhooed frontal attack on illegal 8-liners, prompted by Bishop Daniel Flores complaint that the machines drained Catholic collection plates, lost its luster when it was learned that some of the confiscated machines were not even destroyed, but merely sold for $100,000 to a company fronted by Masso's relatives, no less.

During his 2012 run for District Attorney, Masso made no effort to even hide his close association with noted politiqueras Herminia Becerra and Margarita Ozuna. They worked for him and when an indictment came for Margarita Ozuna, not surprisingly, he defended her in court.

The Cameron County Mafia! It doesn't matter who you vote for, or for what position. They are all dirty and are all in it to benefit themselves and their Mafia buddies.

ReplyDeleteA vote for Masso is a vote for LNG. As a Navigation District commissioner he was among those that approved the leases for the LNG plants. For some reason he want us to look like the Houston ship channel and to experience all their very serious problems including pollution of the waterway and air and the resulting health issues. I own land near there. I bet it will increase my property values and I don't care. As for SPI, do you see people vacationing in or near the industrial zone in other cities? The view from any of our beaches will be chemical tanks and flare towers and the smell is unlikely to be very pleasant.
ReplyDeleteAs for Saenz, he will always take care of himself and his staff before he will take care of the electorate. As a pol. he knows you got to be good to the people that know your secrets.
I wish a republican would be a candidate for this position, I will not be voting for this position. Hell no.. For another democrat I don't think so, all they have done is SHAMED OUR COMMUNITY TO THEIR BENEFIT.

DeleteThe republican chair keeps openly announcing for people who want to run for any open offices to contact her but probably because of that asshole Frank Whoriss being unsupportive of candidates for years and her being so new people aren't stepping up.

Delete"All hat, no cattle?" Really? Go to the Courthouse one of these days, and look at all the domestic violence cases and child sexual assault cases that are being heavily prosecuted. Melissa isn't just doing PR for Saenz, she is much more than that. She is spreading the message that enough is enough, and assholes that beat people or assault children aren't going to get off lightly as they have in past administrations. Every billboard with a quote from a victim is helping start the conversation about issues children are seeing happening in their own families. I get you hate Saenz, Jim. We all get it. Time to give the man some credit. Whatever Saenz' reasons for raising awareness, he and Melissa have done a damn good job at it and the end result, victims receiving assistance, is no easy task. But they're getting it done. Keep up the great job, DAs Office!

DeleteI'm glad Zeke Silva left the DA's office in time. He knew Luis Saenz backed off his promises to the voters and left. Sometimes you do what is best and not what is popular. He left with his head up. Melissa Zamora made sure Luis Saenz broke every promise to the voters by lying, self promotion, false headlines thinking people are stupid enough to believe the lies.
