BISD Elections Turn Ugly! Ortiz Being Ortiz!

Cata Presas-Garcia
Happy with Results
Despite ten years as Election Commissioner, Roger Ortiz still doesn't know how many precincts make up Cameron County.  Oh, and he forgot we have a military with the right to participate in elections.

Juan Montoya broke the story of Roger Ortiz' continuing ineptitude with a comment from an effected candidate:
"When we went to check the vote, Roger told us that there were four precincts that hadn't come in as well as the military ballots that hadn't been counted," said a candidate. "The questions is, why not? Were they waiting to see what the results would be so they could pull out the others and change the results. This stinks to high heaven!"

A meeting was scheduled for 8:00 AM at the Cameron County Elections Office to discuss the issues.  Deja vu?

Someone leading with a plurality likely not affected by a recount is Cata Presas-Garcia:  “I am so glad that the people have spoken. . . . .  my knowledge of the district as a former employee, my dedication, the experience I have as a parent and taxpayer — and to the people who have guided and mentored me through the years and the support of the voters who elected me.  My duty is to represent the students, educators and employees of the district and do it to the best of my ability.”
Those words likely sound hollow to administrators vindictively shifted to positions outside their area of expertise or fired or to teachers intimidated by bullying from the ill-mannered trustee.

Linda Gill-Martinez
The one likely affected by the new tabulations, the apparent early winner for Position 7, Linda Gill-Martinez, may have mixed feelings.  Gill, who spoke haltingly in public forums, seemed "spacey" and "out of it," bolted at a meeting of candidates at the first sign that campaign speeches were being videotaped.  Earlier, after requesting an interview with MMB, she called the day it was scheduled to say she was suffering from the affects of rheumatoid arthritis and was "off her meds."  Since BISD trustee meetings are on local television, such stage fright, reticence may have been problematic for Ms. Gill.

If Roger Ortiz does indeed snatch defeat from the jaws of victory for Gill, the primary effect may be with the alliances both inside and outside the board.  While Gill, might have been easily influenced to tag along with the Presas-Garcia element controlled by convicted RICO felon Carlos Quintanilla, Jose Chirinos may not.

Roger Ortiz
Gill was also sponsored by Brownsville Cheezmeh with their guru Erasmo Dragustinovis promising his dwindling flock direct access to BISD matters via Gill.  It's doubtful that Chirinos will give the Cheezmites the same special access.(For the record, the Cheezmite success rate would stand at 1-5 if Gill's victory is overturned with Erin H. Garcia being the only Cheezmite winner, although utilizing blatant voter fraud.)

While Ortiz' exit as Election Administrator can't come soon enough, the priority is finding a capable replacement not connected to partisan or fraudulent interests.

  1. Juan Montoya "screaming to the high heavens" is laughable. This is a guy who worked for Conrado Cantu. You know, the sheriff who moved drugs and is now in prison. STFU, Juan!!!

    1. So, do you have any "facts" refuting his allegations? I mean, other than personal attacks?

      No? I thought so.

  2. From the ashes of Republican defeat: an anonymous business owner in Las Vegas says that he is laying off 22 of his 114 employees ("mostly Hispanic") as a direct result of the election, because "I have to build up that nest egg now for the taxes and regulations that are coming my way."

  3. The plot thickens at BISD's expense! Hector Gonzales called in sick today, but wait! He was seen walking in to Roger Ortiz's office with Leandra Costilla and Smiley Juarez! WTF! Is the fix in against Chirinos or is it getting ready to be fixed? Okay Mr. DA, Carlos Cascos, sick! Go get in Rogers face and see what this is all about?

    1. This gang will stop at nothing to keep their "support group" in tact. Of course they want someone they can control. Cata will back Ms Linda into a corner within the first 48 hours she serves on the Board (God forbid she actually ends up wining). Cata will cast her evil spell and it will all be history. This is just an unbelievably sad state of affairs that these people are getting away with "murder."

  4. The multipronged plot concocted by Republican douchebag Karl Rove to control American politics ad infinitum is finally exposed — the jig is up! Activist Republican Justices Scalia and Thomas attend several secret planning sessions organized and financed by Charles Koch, whose foundation is the largest contributor to Citizens United (ultra-conservative activist group), and several moths later, the Supreme Court on a 5-4 vote rules in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that the First Amendment protects corporations and unions the same as individuals when it comes to spending money to sway elections; thus, multinational corporations with ties to hostile foreign governments can now spend as much as they want to buy politicians. As unbiased arbiters of the law, and based upon their cozy relationship with Charles Koch, Scalia and Thomas should have recused themselves; instead, they did not, choosing to cast the deciding votes that overturned a long-standing precedent banning political spending by corporate conglomerates. With the most important element of the plot finalized, the next phase directed Republican governors and legislators to strip unions of collective bargaining, which in essence would seal their doom, since workers would not be willing to pay dues if they no longer could receive negotiated protections and benefits made possible via collective bargaining. With collective bargaining outlawed, union dues will dry up and unions will no longer possess the financial resources necessary to challenge Republicans, leaving the door wide open for corporations to exert undue influence over every aspect of government, starting at the State House and ending on Capital Hill. Next, restrict democratic leaning voters in “blue states” by claiming widespread voter fraud. “Autopen” Karl: Doing the dirty work for Charles Koch.

  5. Thank you for using such a totally unflattering photo of Cata. She needs to seriously consider joining a gym!

  6. Jim, I believe that you are mistaken about Linda Gill. She isn't a cheezmeh puppet nor is she a CPG operative. She is an actual independent individual who ran for this post to represent the interests of the special education students and families that she worked with over her entire career. Also, she really does suffer from RA.

What about the students who are not special education? This lady seems to focus on one group only, don't the rest of the students matter to her?

    2. I met Gill Martinez in person and was pleasantly surprised to discover, she is a strong willed, independent type of person, brand new to politics. Unfortunately, as a newbie she did not realize the importance of blogs or of maintaining clear communication with the blog writers. A savvy politician would never have made that mistake but hope she does pull through and not allow her victory to be stolen by the crooked elections office

    3. I met her also and I liked her.

    4. Linda is a nice person. Unfortunally at present time she appears to be struggling with some type of addiction. If she has such terrible RA why does she put herself under this stress? She deserves rest. She sure earned it.

  7. "She isn't a cheezmeh puppet nor is she a CPG operative"

Their own El Rrun Rrun says in one of its articles "Word is she gets along just fine with the current majority" And "Even if Escobedo waffles on the majority, Gill-Martinez gets along with the the other women and they'll make him irrelevant" So now, is she a CPG operative, or is she not?? Hummmmm

  9. Have the BISD candidates disclosed their expenditures and those that contributed to their campaign? If you have the information, can you please post it.

  10. Why a drug test? She may be under the influence of prescribed medication especcially for her RA. Stop trying to be so dramatic.

  12. Jim, can you post all of the candidates for BISD contributions....no that they write the truth, but at least to give us an idea. I have all of the Herald's adds and how much they cost.....so let's see who's says what!!

  13. La Cata Rata no esta bien gordiflona, she just loves to wear blouses that let her gut hang out. She looks so gross. Does she not have any friends that care enough about her to tell her to cover her gut or at least dress it up a bit better. Ugly!!! As for her face, well she has a horse face and has no hope. Maybe she will have plastic surgery.

  14. Dramatic? She is under the influence of prescribed medication and you call it dramatic. How can she make any kind of logical decisions while high on medication. A "drug high" is still a "high". She needs to be treated for addiction. What a world you live in! You are okay with someone being addicted to drugs that affect their state of mind; as long as they are prescribed? Way to go Brownsville; you have some of the worst people living in your city. No wonder the politics is so corrupt! You are an easy pick for corrupt officials.

  16. People no longer have any ethics! This woman may or may not suffer from MA but the fact of the matter is she has a history of drug use (illegal)and has no business being around children. Just because she retired from BISD as a special ed. teacher doesn't mean she was a good teacher. BISD has a bad habit of moving their problems around and back in the day, they didn't care if they were qualified at the time! Speaking in generalities, what would you think of a parent that thinks it's cool to smoke weed in front of your own children?

  17. the elections are over for now. The people spoke and we need to get rid of the politiquera system in this town and w/the politics. That is why people really do not want to go out and vote anymore. Too many chiefs are controlling the election. There are alot of people at present that are unemployed. We need more companies to come down here to employ people again. The candidates got elected let them serve on the SB like they should and stop picking on them. The tea party will be back in full force for 2014. Now we need to concentrate on the city election this coming spring for next year and get some conservative people on the city commission.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Let's line up ALL elected officials and have them ALL drug tested! Let's do the same for ALL BISD employees, ALL city employees,(starting with the City Manager, and his dept. heads)!

    "Weed" them all out!

    Who's up first?

  19. You actually think Minerva Pena is posting negative comments about Cata Presas-Garcia. What about the 16,000 people who voted against Cata Presas-Garcia? Are you serious? Who is constantly blaming The Pena woman for the negative comments about the Presas-Garcia women? Any Guesses? Luci, Cata, or Christy? Word around BISD is that the 3 Amigas hate Pena and are planning to go after her and make her life awful for winning her election. Minerva Please Watch Your Back.

  23. I am not the poster who wants all to take drugs tests, but they need to plan for this action. You need to send recruiters all over the USA because if they did test all employee's, we would lose a bunch of teachers! So before we go and shake up the hornets nest, we better have a plan in place to cover for those teachers! I shit you not!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Good riddance....start at the high schools where teachers are known to fraternize with students at weekend parties! That's why our students end up at tamale tech. They have no preparation for anything else! Invest in drug testing instead of paying off frivolous lawsuits!
