In a consequential meeting Thursday of the BISD Board of Trustees at the BISD Administration Building at 1900 Price Road, newly elected board members Erasmo Castro, Daniela Lopez Valdez and Minerva Pena were sworn in along with the reelected outgoing Board President Jessica Gonzalez and board member Denise Garza.

After the swearing in of the newly elected and reelected trustees, current Board President Jessica Gonzalez made a motion moving that Erasmo Castro be named board president.

That motion passed 5-2 with Jessica Gonzalez, Denise Garza, Frank Ortiz, Daniela Lopez Valdez and Erasmo Castro voting "yes" and Carlos Elizondo and Minerva Pena voting "no," confirming Erasmo Castro as the new president of the BISD Board of Trustees.
