From the editor:  With no intention of intruding on Juan Montoya's annual 7/4 posting of Paul Simon's "American Tune," I'm posting Rhiannon Gidden's rendition.  With Paul's permission, Rhiannon, a descent of native indigenous people, has changed two lines in the song, one line that says "we all came on the Mayflower."

Rhiannon simply says that "not all of us did."

The lines that resonate with me:

"But it's alright, it's alright

For we lived so well so long

Still, when I think of the road we're traveling on

I can't help it, I wonder what has gone wrong"
