Judge Gabriela Garcia
Ana was surprised I was back home so quickly from the Judge Gabriela Garcia speech at Cobbleheads, but I was there long enough to capture that scene and, while the venue is my favorite, it doesn't have sufficient acoustics to actually "hear" a speech.

Sergio Zarate, someone I respect as a loving father to a challenged young lady, graciously offered me a seat at his table, then showed me a scantily-clad photo of the likely Democratic nominee for President, Kamala Harris.

I fully expect we'll see that possibly doctored photo on the internet soon, no genitalia, but a lot of skin.

When I told Sergio that I was not a Democrat or Republican, but simply opposed to Trump since the day he walked down the escalator spewing racial epithets at Mexican Nationals, he put the photo back in his pocket.

Milling around, I recognized the back of Juan Montoya's head, seated at the bar next to my friend Jerry Danache.

Juan was not happy to see me, saying something about my referencing him as a "blogger-for-hire," which he is, then told me to just "get out of here" after pulling out a rumpled "El Rrun Rrun" business card from his wallet and handing it to me. (Juan writes favorable articles for those who pay him as well as unfavorable articles for their opponents.  Knowing that, It would have been a disservice to my small readership to not make them at least aware.)

I listened for a second or two to Judge Garcia as she mentioned something about protecting women's reproductive rights, wrote down a breakfast invite from Hugh Emerson on a napkin, said "hi" to the muscled Tito Mata and my friend, Tim Ramirez, school board members Jessica Gonzalez and Eddie Garcia while accepting the outstretched hand of future BISD candidate Minerva Pena

It was a quick run-through and my current abode is less than 5 minutes away.

  1. Gabby always represented her clients well, but I hear she is a less than stellar judge thus far. Hope she improves and is able to keep the ego in check.

  2. Montoya practices selective journalism… the more money you give him, the more selective he becomes

  4. Had Saenz not agreed to dismiss the Melissa Lucio murder conviction when he did, the CCA would have forcibly removed Judge Gabby Garcia. The idea she thinks she can sign a death warrant at Saenz's command; while employing the wife of the First Assistant District Attorney tells you she has no concept of appearance of conflict. It is sad she is clueless how Saenz threw her under the bus, by dismissing the Lucio murder conviction after asking her to sign the death warrant.

  6. No one can question Sergio and Delores are the biggest advocates for special needs children. It was good when he lost to Jessica because it meant he could put all of his energies into special needs children. Sergio and Delores have done a lot of good. But this photo of Kamala raises the issue of whether or not he has judgment issues.
