A Graphic of the Petulant Blogger

The elderly bachelor mentioned earlier, Dwardo Paws-Marteenez, blogging from his sagging couch in Hidalgo County, has laid personal claim to the phrase "Taco Tuesday," vilifying longtime Brownsville blogger Jerry McHale for incorporating the phrase into his routine.

What the dull Marteenez does not realize is that trademarks cover the ownership of such a phrase and Taco John's of Cheyenne, Wyoming registered the phrase "Taco Tuesday" with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office back in 1989, 44 years ago.

Just this past July 18, Taco John's, facing an expensive legal battle with Taco Bell and other companies over the use of the phrase, relinquished their trademark, opening it up to the world.

As if "owning" all the days of the week, the presumptuous McAllen poser also claimed I'd "copied" him by utilizing the words "Stormy Monday" on my blog, ignorant of the fact that Delta blues musicians have sung, strummed and wailed about "Stormy Monday" for well over a century.

Certainly, our readers will view this as a petty issue raised by the petulant McAllen blogger wannabe, but sometimes it's necessary to extinguish a small fire before it becomes a raging inferno.

  1. Taco Tuesday is a dumb phrase for a town where people eat tacos every day.
