TSC Director Thomas Tynan |
We've been chronicling the failures in vocational education at TSC's vocational arm ITEC under Director Thomas Tynan, particularly the welding program.
Under Tynan, vocational students have been subjected to false claims of certification and promises of jobs that never materialized.
Tynan's performance as Director of Construction and Manufacturing Education has deeply tainted TSC's credibility and reputation.
For example, on 5/19/2021, Tynan made this representation on a TSC website: "More than 40 BISD high school welding students have completed their American Welding Society Exams and more than half have passed. It's been a big day for these students, their district and TSC."
Tynan's statement above is full of untruths and misrepresentations.
In 2021, when these 40 BISD welding students were tested at TSC, the school was NOT accredited for welding instruction. That didn't occur until August 2022.
So, the "over half" who passed the exam were not issued the AWS certificates necessary in the industry to get a job.
Instead, they were issued TSC Certificates of Completion, absolutely worthless in terms of gaining employment.
We've been told that "not a single student" who "passed" TSC's welding test got a job at that time in the welding industry.
If Tynan or any other TSC administrator has evidence otherwise, we'd be more than happy to publish that information: barton873@gmail.com
