SUSPENDED TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL ORDERED TO DEAL WITH IMPEACHMENT FIRST BEFORE SECURITY FRAUD TRIAL

Suspended Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton

Has Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton taken a page out of Donald Trump's playbook?

Like Trump, Paxton is having to navigate a tight court schedule, juggling impeachment procedings and a trial for securities fraud.

Attorneys and a judge say that the embattled Attorney General's years-delayed trial on securities fraud charges will have to wait until his separate impeachment trial is concluded.

This past May the Texas House, in a 121-23 vote, suspended Paxton from office over allegations of misconduct that included bribery, obstruction of justice and abuse of office.

His impeachment and removal from office requires a two-thirds majority vote in the Texas Senate.

Paxton's suspension from office and pending impeachment has to be based on evidence not yet revealed and it has to be serious as Texas is a bright red state with Democrats not winning a state-wide office since 1994.

Certainly, Republicans would not suspend Paxton for the election interference in 2020 he was so boastful about:

"I stopped the counting of mail in ballots in Harris County.  I was not going to have happen here as in Georgia."

We should know something soon as a grand jury has convened in San Antonio to deal with the charges against Paxton.

Reports link Paxton's legal troubles to his connections and interaction with developer Nate Paul, but, we all have to be patient as does Paxton.

Once Paxton's impeachment proceding concludes, next will be his trial for securities fraud.
