RESPONDING TO JERRY MCHALE'S PUBLIC CHALLENGE TO TAKE SIDES IN THE VILLARREAL/RUVALCABA RUNOFF

Tino Villarreal and Susan Ruvalcaba

Blogfather Jerry McHale interrupted my strawberry  picking yesterday at a berry patch in Grimes, Iowa to call for me to publicly state my stance in the Susan Ruvalcaba/Tino Villarreal runoff of City Commissioner At Large "A."

Actually, Susan made that decision incredibly easy by publicly advocating for Donald J. Trump and since Ana and I still maintain a home in Brownsville, despite her travel nursing contracts elsewhere,  we're happy to respond to McHale's public challenge.

How could Ruvalcaba genuinely serve the interests of this 95% Hispanic city while embracing the views of a man who, in announcing his candidacy for President, spewed racist epithets at Mexican Nationals?

How could any right-thinking human publicly connect with a candidate who called for the "execution" of five black men eventually found to be innocent of murder, coddled white supremacists and incited an insurrection against our country?

Actually, any Brownsville voter who supports this woman is either ignorant of her history or simply exercizing blind partisanship as a Republican.

So, Tino Villarreal, by simple default, would be my choice, Jerry, but certainly not because of "Catholic values."

Catholicism, along with the rest of the world's religions, has a horrible record of inhumanity that we won't detail here, but we've seen nothing in print to indicate that Villarreal is running on "Catholic values."

We will comment, though, on Jerry's choice of photos in his challenge article, a picture of me with Jessica Tetreau at a Taste of La Frontera event some years ago.

That photo will give Zeke Silva ammunition and support to his recent diatribe essentially blaming me for Tetreau's twelve year tenure as city commissioner.

Silva terminated our conversation, by intimating that I'm a worthless old man and then proceeded to block me on Facebook.

I mildly chastised Silva as "immature."

Perhaps, a day or so later, another local loudmouth, Robert Sanchez, childishly accused me of "eating more fish than all the other bloggers" at a dinner he'd sponsored at his struggling eatery.

"Geeze, Louise!"  This town has some young men not quite ready for prime time.

Anyway, Jerry, it's Tino Villarreal, for us as City Commissioner At Large "A," even if we don't hold our breath for him to spearhead an effort resulting in Brownsville ratepayers recovering the monies stolen by P.U.B. for a power plant they well knew was not going to be built.

  3. You anonymous fuckers hide behind your fuckin keyboards . Jim Barton has more integrity than anyone I know. He does everyone a favor if he stays here in Brownsville and exposes corrupt individuals and bitch slaps pendejos and mental cases like you all. If your brains were cotton, you wouldn't have enough to make a Kotex for a piss ant. - El Hombre Mosco C/S putos.
