Former President Donald J. Trump |
Former President Donald J. Trump used three different venues Thursday to speak against "wokeism."
“I don’t like the term ‘woke’ because I hear ‘woke woke woke.’ It’s just a term they use, half the people can’t even define it, they don’t know what it is,” Trump said Thursday during remarks at the Westside Conservative Club in Urbandale, Iowa.
Trump himself didn't define the word "woke" and likely he couldn't, but, anyway, it's a code word for whatever the Republican user wants it to mean.
"Woke" can mean anti-Mexican National. It can mean anti-Black or anti-LGBTQ.
All MAGA-hatters know is that it's not good to be "woke" as Trump keeps reminding them.
Thursday on Fox News Trump identified a problem with the U.S. military, saying they "are not learning to fight" and "want to go woke."
The same day on Truth Social Trump said "Disney has become woke" and is "a disgusting shadow of its former self."
Why is Trump pushing the "anti-woke" button so hard?
Could it be that he's trying to steal the thunder of his chief rival, Ron DeSantis, who's wrapped his campaign around "anti-wokism?"
No one outbrands Trump. He's the king of branding, labeling.
Just ask "low energy" Jeb Bush.
