At Texas they don't rush the the football or baseball field nor the basketball court. That has been the rule since Darrel Royal was coach. His reason was that rushing the field or court means you upset somebody and he said we never go into any game trying to upset anybody. We never upset anybody because we always go in expecting to win. That's why Texas never rushes the field or court. Some people won't understand the concept. That's why not everybody can into the University of Texas.
ReplyDeleteDarrell Royal was total class, as was Arkansas coach Frank Broyles. The two were best friends and both retired at the same time in 1976, embracing on the field at their final Arkansas-Texas game.
DeleteYes I agree. But Texas still never rushes the field or the court no matter who they beat.
DeleteFact anybody that doesn't win very often and is able to beat Texas will rush the field. They celebrate because they become relevant. Maybe temporarily but for the moment they become relevant. This is usually done by teams that don't win very much. Arkansas is a bottom feeder in the SEC. This win gives them relevance.
DeleteDarrel Royal won a National Championship without a single black on the team. That's history.
ReplyDeleteSEC fined Arkansas $100,000 for rushing the field. SEC is trying to force teams to stay classy. Moonshine shouldn't be allowed at Arkansas football games.
