Seeing a huge "Charlie Cabler for Mayor" sign on a still-under-construction strip mall on Jaime Zapata Blvd., I just had to stop.
Also catching my eye was an orange City of Brownsville permit notice which I assumed would list the inspections completed or pending on the building but was actually from the Planning and Development Services Department.
The Cabler sign and the notice from Planning and Development had a distinct connection.
Citing Section 328-11(e) of the city code, the notice's instructions were: "Illegal Sign-political sign larger than allowed by city ordinance. Please remove sign within 24 hours.(The warning notice was not time stamped.)"
Inspectors Jeffrey Valdez and Fred Gonzalez were listed as authorizing the warning that was dated 5/30/19, with no time stamp, meaning that Cabler is already in violation of the warning by at least 9 days.

This means nothing, Ruben Cortez had a trailer plastered with those same city notices for weeks... and he did move the trailers only after the election! I bet you he never even got fined.
ReplyDeleteWow, these inspectors can't report all the mess up streets, thousands of potholes, drug houses, dangerous weed infested alleys, car tires all over the city, trash flying every where, especially from the boca chica Walmart going across the OPI street to the neighborhood. The list goes on, but this inspectors need to fine all the left over political signs left from years ago? We vote for Charlie period and the Russians did influence me neither.

ReplyDeleteThe BISD Board of Trustees named Gutierrez lone finalist at a special-called meeting that set in motion a timetable for him to become superintendent on June 28. State law requires that BISD now wait 21 days before offering Gutierrez a contract.
