"Money talks,
but it don't sing and dance and it can't walk"
"Forever in Blue Jeans"
Neil Diamond, c. 1978
"Transparency, accessibility, accountability. . . . Yes, Pat Ahumada. candidate for City Commissioner, District 2, hits those high notes on the campaign trail, even giving out his home phone number to prove his point.
Admittedly, Pat will talk to you, but even elitist Tony Martinez is doing that during THIS campaign.
After a recent forum, Ahumada and I shook hands as the conversation turned to Tenaska. As I tried to explain the weird arithmetic of the deal, that Brownsville ratepayers would pay 65% of the plant's cost for 25% of the power, Ahumada interrupted:
"They came to me about Tenaska. I said 'no!" They came to me about Casa del Nylon. I said 'no!' " Pat told me.
"Those were bad deals!"
Next, the conversation turned to the $26,139 check intended for a vendor, that Pat deposited to his own account in 2008. Ahumada has read my take on this over the years and so did not even try to blame Finance Director Pete Gonzalez, the teller who wrote out his deposit slip("Why wasn't she indicted?) or remind me that he'd "forgotten his glasses."
Instead, he explained: "People know that I have $10,000 worth of overdraft privileges with the bank."
Why did Pat say this?
He know's that I've heard and reported that his account was likely overdrawn at the time of the deposit($180 in arrears is what I've heard) AND that as much as $6,000 of the money was spent BEFORE it was returned to the city.
So, who is supporting Pat Ahumada and why? Perhaps, his recent Campaign Finance Report, received by the city April 2, 2019 can shed some light.
The report, due 30 days before the May 4 election, reveals relatively modest income and out-go, $9,629.47 in contributions, $8,193.47 in expenditures.
Abraham Galonsky |
Abraham Galonsky is the largest single contributor at $2,000, which might explain why Pat is saying very little about La Casa del Nylon deal this time around.
Do you recall how Pat described his efforts at helping an "ordinary citizen" with permitting issues pro bono?
Well, that "ordinary citizen" is Indian millionaire Bagwandas Wadhani, who, like Galonsky, forked over $2,000 to the Ahumada campaign.
Of the two Montanaro kids, Aida and Rey, campaign treasurer and campaign manager, respectively, it was Rey who actually made "in-kind" contributions, $1,000 for a mailout and another $136.08 for "table rental, chairs and beer."
Gadfly Roman Perez blessed the Ahumada campaign with a $100 bill, sometimes called a "Benjamin" on the street. That will gain Perez entry into any future Ahumada event and a free handshake with the candidate, although Pat should be duly warned that Perez may want the money back if things don't go his way.
Of note on the expenditures side are two payments of $300 each to Juan Montoya of El Rrun Rrun for advertising, likely for well-written efforts by Juan, juxtaposed between "Alex Begum, Law Giant" and "Mike Hernandez III's GBIC, Best Thing Since Sliced Bread."

Yes, transparency, Baby!
Ahumada is a burned tortilla. Not winning.
ReplyDeleteWhat a clown!
ReplyDeleteWell finacace reports do not lie as to donors named donors, so Pat just lost my vote. So I vote for no one or Caty.
ReplyDeleteShut up blimp, you are not relevant in elections. You vote blank ballot all the time you idiot. You never make a difference either way! If you vote a blank ballot you are a pendejo! You are a pendejo because you took time to drive and waste gas and time to vote for no one.... you could have just stayed home and not voted! Brain surgery hasn’t changed you... you are still LOI koo
DeleteZaaaazzzzz blimp! Pat Ahumada is a more intelligent than you are! Maybe Caty can pay your gas money pendejo.
DeleteJim why don't you ask the Montanaro kids to tell you where their father got his money. Hint: He filed a lawsuit against his own mother. This is the kind of people Ahumada is dealing with.
ReplyDeletePaquito, hard work and intellegence pays off.
DeleteNo more drive bys ?
Why dont you tell them where you got YOUR money.. and who made it for you
Ya no diviertes?”
Frank your mother was scum just like you.
DeleteTheir fathers money is all his, you have a “partner” you better hope he dies before you, just like your mother and father did. Or are you planning to sue him?
Ha ha ha ha
Animals.
DeleteEres un pendejo mantenido Rey... your dad sued his mother. The Apple does not fall far from the tree. You, Pat and his dogs are perfect for each other. Saw you driving around town with pat Ahumada and his dogs... you looked so cute in the back of his truck with the all those dogs. Does Pat make you lick peanut butter off his balls as well? Anyway, kudos for being a loyal companion to Pat.
DeleteY el cheque que?
ReplyDeleteFrank Montanaro, you are a pendejo. It has been over 30 years since you stole Rey's share of the business and we aited for your sick mommy to die to keep all her money, not to mention putting your grandfather on the nursing home to die and kept all his properties can and money. Wasn't he, your grandfather that raised you? No companion, you are hungry for money, but someone else money. Who is next to die so you can go after his/her money. You have what you have by taking, suing, or any means necessary to get ahold of someone else's money. Your brother Rey on the other hand, he has what he has been because of his intelligence and hard work. Need to get over it. Your are scum as your mom and brother Jaime.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteFrank Montanaro, weren't you arrested and spent time in jail for harrassing your brother "Rey", or did you forget that already. You took your brother Rey's share of the business from him, that's the reason he had to sue you, Your brother Jaime and your mom. You failed to mention that case went on for several years and Rey proved in court and he won. Your brother Rey, proved by preponderance of the evidence that he had grounds to sue....and, didn't you pay him back what you stole from him for six years.... ups, you forgot to mention that.
Frank or Paquito con carino. If you look on the mirror, you have a very bad reputation in Brownsville. You are a loan shark, lend money to people in desperation to buy their dream home. Ask them to place a large down payment and very high interest, to later, repo the property as people is unable to keep paying your high interest?
ReplyDeleteFrank, didn't you, your mom, and your aunt placed your grandfather Reynaldo Galindo in the nursing home after your grandmother die and took away all his money and properties? I believe, he raised you in Brownsville and sent you to Private school "St. Joe". Gave you love and a good life so you in return, placed him in a nursing home, split the properties between your mom and your aunt along with his life saving? Didn't you manipulated your sick mom to go against your brother Rey and your sister so at the end you could end up with all her money? All the money you have you got it by force, lies, manipulation, and bad faith. But, there is a god that will pass judgment at the end. Be careful, not even god can forgive you.
ReplyDeleteGet a life, enjoy all the money you have been able to accumulate as life is too short to be angry at your brother Rey for his success in life.
Good Grief! My vote will not be for Pat because HE NOR HS FRIENDS SHOULD BE AROUND MONEY! WHO THE FUCK SUES THIER MOTHER? You might as well be referred to as a motherfucker, because you fucked your mom in the courts you pendejo!
DeleteGet over it Frank Montanaro. You are going to have a heart attack and won't be able to enjoy all the money you have obtained by stealing and deceiving.
ReplyDeleteFrank Montanaro, your mom was a scum and mentally ill, like you. You took advantage of her of her condition and paid off, you kept all her money after she passed. Use some of that money to get mentally stable. I can recommend a good doctorget well so you can screw more people.
ReplyDeleteThis Frank character sounds like a real piece of work...
ReplyDeleteFucks his grandfather, his mother, his brother, his clients.. whos next his own children?
It’s amazing what greed does to a person.
Frank, I have been reading all these comments. You claim that Rey sue his mom? I also read that he sue you and your brother Jaime and Rey won? Doesn't that tells you something? Are you infatuated with your brother? Are you jealous of him? I know Rey personally, he is a decent, hard working man. 30 years ago you took everything he worked very hard for. He was able to come back with hard work, intelligence, and always helping people.
ReplyDeleteSo, what is wrong you, Frank?
Frank is good person. I know him personally. I can’t say the same for others.
ReplyDeleteYes, he is an angel and Mother Teresa is the devil.
