WELCOME TO THE NEW BROWNSVILLE HERALD INSIDE VENTURE X BUILDING

The concept of multiple businesses sharing a common building, with individual rents contributing toward air conditioning, property taxes, maintenance and landscaping has certainly caught on even in the valley.

Venture X Directory
Venture X, along the interstate access road, the refurbished Edelstein Building, features a directory of numerous companies including a tiny one-woman office for the Brownsville Herald.

"She must be at lunch," stated the Venture X manager, giving us the guided tour.

"Is she a reporter?" I asked.

"No, I don't think so.  I think she is primarily involved in circulation and billing," was the answer.

TV news, the internet and free advertising sites like Craigslist have been the death knell for the country's once proud print news facilities including our local paper.

Buffalo News owner Warren Buffett stated: "If cable and satellite broadcasting, as well as the Internet, had come along first, newspapers as we know them probably would never have existed."
