MAYORAL CANDIDATE CHARLIE CABLER SET FOR INTERVIEW TODAY ON WHINE AND CHEEZ PODCAST

Former City Manager and Mayoral Candidate Charlie Cabler

After a missed connection last week, former City Manager Charlie Cabler, currently a candidate for mayor of the City of Brownsville, has agreed to appear on the Whine and Cheez podcast to be livestreamed from Angelita's Casa de Cafe on Boca Chica Blvd. across from Chase Bank.

Connect to the program on the Erasmo Castro or Jim Barton Facebook page starting at 1:30 PM Sunday.

  1. People worry that immigrants will bring crime, even though stats show immigrants are no more dangerous than natives. People worry they’ll take jobs away from native workers, even though most studies suggests that immigration is a profound benefit to the economy, and there’s little evidence it hurts native workers. And if we worry that they’ll hoover up welfare benefits, we can impose residency requirements for them.

But these are all defensive arguments, and when you’re on defense, you’re losing. For opponents of the president’s xenophobic policies, a better plan is to make the affirmative case for a lot more immigrants.

  2. While we do suffer from a lack of ambulances, he fed you all a bunch of BS on that matter. He knows very well how he could have "legally" filled that void. I have known Charlie for many years and he is always out to make a quick buck on back door deals.

  3. This guy thinks he can get by talking his garbage and nonsense because a lot of what he said during the Cheez podcast was just that, nonsense.
Charlie Cabler is exactly what this city does not need.

  4. I worked with Cabler. He is a short fused "because I said so" kind of leader. Many of us were happy to see him retire.
