Waiting at the stoplight of I-69 and Ruben Torres Blvd., we saw an elderly man walking back from the convenience store with two red "tall boys," likely Budweiser, in paper sacks. He put the beverages into a black bag near one of the overpass pillars and quickly went back to "work," begging for money from the waiting traffic.
The instant he noticed me taking pictures with my phone, he walked toward our car, eventually approaching the driver's side window and yelling: "Fuck you, bitch!"

Most of the local homeless panhandlers are mentally ill or drug addicts or both.

About 20 years ago, my buddy and I had a somewhat extended conversation with 2 men at the Toucan lounge, Caucasians, who admitted to us that they were both pan handlers and that they were both shocking up in the motel located in the Toucan bar area. So it's just very apparent that they make very good money doing that.

I was a cop in mcallen in the 90's. These poor people use to buy a one way from Chicago to mcallen to avoid the harsh winters. They would stay here and go back north after winter. Some even claimed the shelters up north were paying for their tickets.

ReplyDeleteSo he ran away from a cop and pulled away when they handcuffed him. Those are the only changes. Question is why was the PD trying to make contact with him? There are no other charges. Where they profiling or harassing him? Fleeing on foot? Revisiting? OK where's the initial crime for which you tried to stop him before he "evaded" and "resisted"?
