Ernie Hernandez Resigns as Precinct 2 Commissioner~Cascos to Appoint Successor

Ernie Hernandez with
Political Operative Sylvia Garza-Perez
Just received a call from someone outside the 103rd District Court. The source reported that Ernie Hernandez, Jr., Precinct 2 County Commissioner had resigned in exchange for 7 of the criminal counts against him being dropped, pleading guilty to a single charge:  "coercion of a public servant."

Hernandez was scheduled to go to trial May 5.

The source indicated that County Judge Carlos Cascos has the responsibility of appointing a replacement to fill out Hernandez' term as commissioner.

  1. Why is it that a piece of rat crap gets away with a slap on the wrist in Cameron County? Remains to be seen what his ass kisser Raul Salazar gets away with...again.

  5. How about appointing JJ De Leon instead. He's far less qualified than Ed and therefore better suited.

  8. If Carlos Cascos had any balls he'd appoint Jim Barton to fill Ernie Hernandez's seat. Jim would bring back 1960s fashion (pony tail, too) to the courthouse and we'd never hear about that freakin' mayor's office ever again. LOL!!!

  9. Carlos should not appoint anyone that has run for office within the past 5 years; that way there is no conflict...imagined, perceived or actual!

  10. Connect the dots people, if you want to get rid of corruption forever, do not vote for Sylvia Garza Perez, do not vote for Joe Rivera. These two politicians are in cahoots with Ernie Hernandez, Erin Hernandez, Norma Hernandez and Herminia Becerra. Ya basta de tanta corrupcion.

  11. Two men were seriously injured Friday morning when they were hit by a car during an argument in a McDonald's parking lot on the West Side. About 10 people were involved in the argument just before 7 a.m. said a spokesman for the police department. The altercation turned physical when one man was punched to the ground. The driver of a red BMW sedan then threw his car in reverse and backed over the man lying on the ground, striking another man as well. Both men were hospitalized with serious injuries. The man who was run over reportedly is in critical condition. At some point, either before or after the car drove into the crowd, someone pulled a gun and fired one bullet at the driver. No one was hit. One person — not the BMW's driver — was arrested on narcotics charges. No other charged were immediately filed as homicide detectives continued to sort out what happened.

  14. If you folks think corruption is bad in Cameron County, be ready for the worst kind once Sylvia Garza Perez and Joe Rivera are elected. If these two are elected the Hernandez will be the kings of Cameron County. Say no to corruption.

  16. Pat Ahumada has nothing to do with the corruption that Sylvia Garza Perez and Joe Rivera are bringing to Cameron County, only if they are elected. Stop trying to distract the who really is destroying the county. Do not only say no but hell no to Sylvia and Joe. Lets stop corruption in its tracks.

  17. Stop the corruption of Ruben Pena and his gang of losers ( Letty Perez Garzoria , Rigo B . , and the rest of his small following .) , they are hungry for Power . The above mentioned are starving for a victory and will say anything to get into a power position . Say hell no to Ruben and all his followers !

  18. If Joe Rivera wins and Sylvia Garza Perez loses, she still wins. She will automatically become the human resource director for cameron county. Lets play it safe, say no to both of them come election day.

  19. You know, it amazes me that I stood up and defended myself and proved my accusers wrong, but some refuse to accept what a jury saw as a political witch hunt by a vinidctive police chief Carlos Garcia and DA Luis Saenz, along with Villalobos and others. No one can accuse me of hiring family or friends, benefitting from my position for personal gain, but just the opposite. I gave my city 24/7, stood up to the powers that be against the injustices committed against our city and spent my own money to hire a secretary and entertain people for our city as mayor. I sacrifieced a lot to serve and saved andmade the city millions, but some would prefer to throw stones and prefer the elite form of government that is only for a certain few.How pathetic that all they have to offer is blame me or besmirch me for something that I was proven innocent. They wanted to throw the book at me. I was threaten with 30 years in prison and for what, for standing up for what is right. How dare you judge me, when you probably are part of what is wrong with Brownsville and who prefers to look the other way when millions are paid to others knowing it is not right.
