Jerry MchaleBack from his extended Thanksgiving hiatus, hard-hitting blogger of Downtown Browntown News Jerry Mchale presented a gentler, kinder description of Catalina Presas-Garcia as President of the Board of Trustees of BISD: "We admire Catalina Presas-Garcia's bravado, not only because she had the daring to save her husband from the perils of the 19th hole and together sire the next Lee Trevino, but because she has balls bigger than all the head honchos of the Cameron County Democratic Party combined. One after another the challengers climbed through the ropes and one after another their corners dragged the supine bodies from the bloodied canvas: Otis Powers, Rick Zayas, Ruben Cortez Jr., Joe Rodriguez, Brett Springston, Mike Saldana and Bobby Wightman-Cervantes. They were all heavyweights who met their match in Presas-Garcia."
Unlike Mchale, I do not work at BISD, so incurring the wrath of Presas-Garcia is not a daily worry. Nor am I in the same stratosphere as researcher par excellence Bobby Wightman-Cervantes, who rescuscitated his column BROWNSVILLE VOICE just long enough to share these pertinent details about the players in City of Lubbock vs. HealthSmart and BISD vs. HealthSmart:

Bobby Wightman-Cervantes trusts that the F.B.I. can connect the dots above between the various players, motives and manipulation.
I personally witnessed what Mchale sees as "bravado" in Presas-Garcia at the board meeting I attended. Her style is more like bullying, stifling of dissent and manipulation of the agenda. Minerva Pena is allowed the occasional counterpoint, but is bulldozed by Presas-Garcia on issues that count. Joe Colunga can't seem to make a coherent point in less than a century and Rolando Aguilar seems to have just given up.

I had the privilege and honor of being taught by Dr. Escobedo at UTB. He always made classes interesting. I consider him a mentor and role model for our young people, not a fake as you claim. He has done a lot for our city. What have you done?"

Escobedo is not the first politician to be a fraud. Politicos frequently make false claims about military service, education, business experience, etc. to enhance their resume'. It goes to the very core of their lack of integrity. Most of us would cringe every time someone addressed us as a doctor if we knew we had not earned that title. But an amoral con artist does not always feel that shame or guilt with their misrepresentations. In Escobedo's case he had campaign materials and a website still describing him as a doctor even after the Brownsville Herald exposed him as a fraud. I would ask his former student if that is really the kind of role model and mentor Brownsville students need.
The problem is that they are as bad as their neighbors across the border. Just follow the family line. These leaders did not learn what their parents taught them. They did not learn to lead with pride, ethics, honesty and care. I would be ashamed to call them my family. I am sure the family of these leaders are ashamed of their actions. But what can they do? Nothing, just love them the way they are and pray that they do NO MORE DAMAGE to our community. Everyone can verify this by examing the fact that Enrique Escobedo insists on using the title of "DR." when in fact he does NOT hold the degree. He thinks because he was in a university for 8 years he is entitled to call himself "DR." Think about it.

Then once she has them in her web, she boo-hoos on their shoulder, lies like crazy to them and they fall for it. Notice she does it more to MEN than womem. Her sex appeal does not always work on women she knows. That is why McHale is now kissing up to her. We all know how much McHale loves sex appeal. Don't we???????????? Think about it.

ReplyDeleteIt's not self preservation on McHales part. Jerry understand more about local politics than the lot of you will ever even hint about knowing. Jerry works with facts, not speculations or what was heard through the grape vine.
As much as you all may hate Cata and call her corrupt, none of you can prove one single thing. To pass judgement on an individual solely because of association with a crook is hypocritical. Most of the "anonymous" writers here are friends with one crook or another. How? This is Brownsville. With that being said, I have no love for Cata or what she how they have reshuffled our district. But the fact is that no one, not even Bobby, can prove a single thing. Stop talking out of your ass. Jerry McHale is still king of the blogging world. Show more respect.

If this guy from Dallas (the one who owns Healthsmart) plays his cards right again, he will get either Quintanilla, or some one else to come here and stir the BISD pot once more, remember, he did this at the "business" request of Pat Lehman, so if this Dallas guy gets (his) $4 candidates in, they ALL can and will continue to milk the BISD cow at our children, teachers, and taxpayers expense.

Yes, that is exactly what they want. Just read the deposition of Carlos Quintanilla and how he continuously mentions the 40 million contract Ted Parker lose to Johnny Cavazos....How did Quintanilla HAD so much information upon his arrival here? Who was providing him with the information, and WHY???

Cata Presas-Garcia adores Carlos Quintanilla. She speaks of him as her hero and believes in everything he does. She believes that he is the most caring and honest man she knows. She believes people are just jeolous of him and her. Cata Presas-Garcia is very loyal to the Ted Parker group; and as long as she has that kind of money backing her, she believes she can do wonders. Even buy an election! So Brownsville be very careful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again, this is not about Jerry, this is about bringing at least 2 of the four corrupt board majority. As far as we know definitely two of them were/are involved in the scam. So do not dismay, it may take time, but it'll come.
