When customers at the Matamoros Walmart noticed that 50 inch televisions were being advertised in the store for 299 MXN, $16.27 USD, many were loading up two televisions in their shopping carts, demanding that Walmart honor their in-store advertised price.
Store management quickly noticed what they described as a "coding error" and refused to allow any televisions to leave the store at that price.
The authorities had to be called to deal with the confusion.
Store officials later stated that the correct price was 6700 MXN or $364.46.
Isn't it obvious that the store's advertising had transposed what was likely a U.S. price of $299?
