A serious traffic accident occurred early Monday morning on Lauro Villar Avenue near the Matamoros Institute of Technology (ITM). A Ford F-150 pickup truck crashed into the school's perimeter fence, allegedly due to the driver being intoxicated.

Five people were traveling in the vehicle, three of whom fled before authorities arrived.

Witnesses reported that one of the occupants who fled was bleeding profusely, and his whereabouts and condition are unknown.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and provided medical attention to the two people who remained at the scene, who suffered various injuries.

The crash caused significant damage to both the perimeter fence and the fence of the school in addition to material damage to the pickup truck.
