WALMART PROVIDES PLASTIC BAGS FOR CUSTOMERS FREE OF CHARGE~BOBBY IS WRONG AGAIN!

Fact-challenged Bobby Wightman-Cervantes is at it again.  Today, on the unreliable BROWNSVILLE VOICE, Bobby reported that Brownsville Walmarts were charging  customers 5 cents each for plastic bags.

Never quite sure when to believe the Bobster or not, we called the Boca Chica Walmart at their customer service number, (956)544-0394, talking to Rosa at the Customer Service desk.  She assured us that Walmart was NOT charging customers for plastic bags.

When I mentioned that I'd heard a rumor they were charging 5 cents per bag, she verified the information with her manager and got back with me.

"No sir.  That is incorrect.  We are giving them away free," Rosa reiterated.

Mr. Wightman, though, in yesterday's column, went beyond misreporting, but dove into a loony conspiracy theory involving corporate greed and Texas Republicans.

Here is Bobby's inaccurate take on the matter:

"So here is the deal, the city can no longer charge a fee for bags as part of its ban. But Walmart is now charging 5 cents per bag. So instead of the money going to the taxpayers to help the city defer costs on projects, the money will go to one of the wealthiest families in the world. Only in Republican Texas do you take tax revenues from the cities and transfer it to the corporations."

Stopping into H.E.B. yesterday for Grape Nuts and blueberries, I asked the front end manager if their bag policy had changed.

"We're waiting to hear from our Corpus Christi district office," the young lady told me.

When I responded, "What about the City Commission?" she just laughed.

  1. You’re fact challenged, Jim. It wasn’t yesterday. Bobby posted it this morning.

  3. Bobby claims he mistook you, a gringo with a ponytail, for Steve Clark, a gringo with a ponytail. I don’t recall him admitting that before. Regardless he thinks two gringos look alike. Imagine the outrage if you and Steve were black.

  4. Bobby is a few brain cells short! His blog is more about his warped thinking. He needs something.....that is a fact!
