Cesar de Leon, A BrownsvilleTragedy!

Cesar De Leon, flanked by his parents
Brownsville has languished, suffered through corruption, watching hard-earned tax monies squandered by the likes of Ernie Hernandez, Gilberto Hinojosa and Tony(Antonio) Martinez.

"We need young, educated, honest Hispanics to take us from compadrismo to progress" has been the battle cry.

Honestly, young Cesar de Leon, based on his parents' careful and thoughtful mentoring, seemed like a vehicle to propel Brownsville out of the suffocating, dumbass mordida mentality.

But, things are not always as they seem.

Carlos Elizondo, a clever politico, recorded young Cesar's racist, misogynist comments, thus transferring him from "part of the solution," to a clear factor of "the problem."

Brownsville's "beautiful boy" betrays himself as a Gilberto Hinojosa/Ernie Hernandez/Tony Martinez clone.

Cesar's parents are saddened.

Brownsville, historical and modern, loses.

  1. It's not a tragedy at all. It's not like he was pure then went corrupt when he got into office and got fleas when he started mingling with the rest of the mangy dogs. De Leon comes from a culture that not only allows government officials to profit from office but demands that you do. O todos coludoso o todos rabones. Because Brownsville is still tied umbilically to Mexico, duh majority of us don't think too much, some but not too much, about de Leon's "nigger" comments or the two-bit, tough guy twisting a school trustee's arm for inside info on the meat contract. In Mexico we say chinitos like the Astro player called LA Dodger Yu Darvish. No racism. We laugh it off. Where do they sell cheap merchandise? At Los Chinitos, downtown Brownsville's new name. Our favorite card game, La Loteria, has a character called "El Negrito" one of our favorite children cartoons was "Memin Penguin" a little negrito living in Mexico City and gringos were named like that because of who knows why but not to heap scorn and hate on them. Some of my best friends are gringos. The corruption? There we have a problem, Houston. Though Brownsville is Mexico under US rule, it's still more Mexico than old guard citizens who grew up under gringo rule would like. For them there is no such thing as little corruption. So yes, everybody goes over 35 mph on the frontage road and no one gets stopped until someone does. This time it's de Leon's turn. Sorry bro, te apendejaste. You gotta be trucha the whole time and dim the attitude bulb just a bit.
