From the editor: An anonymous email raises some questions about the considerable loss the City of Brownsville suffered in last Saturday's dome fire at La Plaza Multimodal Terminal:
Jim,
Do you know how the city will recover the losses incurred in the November 26 fire at the downtown bus terminal? Will the city sue Carlos Marin, the owner of Ambiotec? What about the electrical contractor who used an indoor electrical box, vulnerable to moisture, that evidently shorted out, causing the fire? Was the contractor licensed, bonded and insured? What about the city's permitting department, who evidently approved the incorrect installation? I read that the damage exceeded $100,000, but that may be for materials alone.
