The sheer volume of stories, not to mention the stories broken on Juan Montoya's El Rrun Rrun blog, makes the column mandatory reading for nearly every involved citizen of Brownsville.
Montoya published recent numbers indicating two consecutive articles with pageviews totaling over 7,000 and 6,000 respectively and total pageviews for the lifetime of the blog nearing 5,000,000.
We congratulate Juan on such hard evidence of his relevance as a reporter and commentator on the Brownsville scene.
Speaking of pageviews, this blogger recently threw a monkey wrench into his those accessing his blog by an ass backwards approach to renaming the blog.
I shut down Mean Mister Brownsville, my Johnny-come-lately blog, with total pageviews at 2,000,000, without leaving a link to my new blog, the Brownsville Observer. Pageviews plummeted to nothing until a friend suggested I momentarily reactive the old blog and provide a link to the new one. Duh!
That action brought about a semi-resurgence, but nothing approaching the old MMB numbers. It wasn't until we submitted a story on the "off-the-grid" lifestyle that pageviews bumped up like the old days. "Living Off the Grid, Solar, Tiny Houses, Stealth Camping" pulled in 3,500 views from nowhere. Next, the article about the shutting down of the music event at B.A.M. drew 5,527 pageviews. Google shows how stories are accessed. These two stories were accessed primarily from Facebook OR from a Google search for "Mean Mister Brownsville." Hardly anyone was actually looking for the new blog. Lol!
