Erasmo's Public Announcement for Mayor Spikes Pageviews on Blog

Nena
This blog was on life support in late October when Nena had her stroke or strokes.  I don't think we made a post for 17 days, but I'm not interested in checking the exact number of days we were out.  By force of habit I would look at the daily pageviews, seeing them dwindle to as low as 1,500.  Readers were likely checking for something new, but also reading older stories.

In late November our life took another twist, being entrusted with the daily custody of our precocious grandson Jack.  Suddenly, writing a blog had a low priority.

Nena's recovery has been slow, but, yes, steady. "Short term memory loss" does not describe what I observe.  It's more like a slice of memory is gone. Nena knows everything we need to get from H.E.B., but can't remember the current year or her age.  She remembers the arrogance of the current mayor, but not necessarily his name.

The impetus to restart the blog was primarily Nena wanting "to get her life back."  There is a routine in dressing, preparing for city board meetings, taking pictures, videos that becomes ingrained, part of "what we do."  She did two caricatures after her hospital release, but was not satisfied with them.

Once again posting new material, our blog pageviews increased dramatically, actually reaching an all-time peak yesterday after posting Erasmo Castro's announcement to run for mayor:

Pageviews yesterday
            5,202
Pageviews last month
 88,572
The story about Erasmo's announcement in one day became our second most read story all-time.

  1. Prayers out for Nena. Unfortunately an idiot putting his bid in for Mayor seems to take on a circus sideshow interest.
