The only time I remember Elizabeth street being like that is when JC Penney, Sears, Zales, Gibson's, Kress, Neisner's The Popular, Los Cuatro Reyes, Tree Sisters, La Tienda Amigo, were downtown. It didnt need to be Charro Days or Christmas for downtown to be like that. We are now inundated with chinese JUNK and the only ones that buy that are the regular folks from Matamoros.
ReplyDeleteIn the old days this might be the rush to Matamoros to have a margarita and a cabrito dinner at Garcia's or The Drive Inn. The picture today is traffic coming from Matamoros to have dinner and drinks at the restaurants up on the Expressway (not downtown).....and, as has been said before, to take Mexican children to and from school.
