  3. Jim, should "commissioner" be capitalized because it's a proper title?

  4. Isn't this the same lawyer that represented Ted Hasse? Is he is a Republican???????????????

  5. My family and I are voting for Leo Rosales!

  6. This guy looks like a bearded Martin Sarkis. Is he from Matamoros?

    1. Sarkis supports him. Sarkis won't run against Leo because he knows Leo would beat him. He's hiding behind Cesar's long finger.

  7. Cesar is going to beat whoever runs against him!!! My vote is for him. He is smart and well-educated.

    2. Yeah! His compadres are Ben Neece and Abraham Galonsky. So he's going to kick everyone's ass.

  11. I wouldn't vote for that drunkerd rat, Leo Rosales, the same person who got fired for stealing from the good settlement home - imagine what he would do if he was on the city commission!

  12. Ben Neece is promoting MIke Gonzalez for District 1 and Cesar de Leon for At-Large "A"

    1. Ben Neece shouldn't be a judge after his embarrassing arrest for assault and possession of marijuana. Those charges were dismissed. But if it had been you or me, do you think they would have been dismissed?

    2. If it's true, Bobby is going to have fun with those two for their association with Ben Neece.

    3. Pass the popcorn.

    4. Bobby has written extensively on Neece. If there is any hint Neece is playing kingmaker, he'll send a letter to Austin faster than you can say Writ of Mandamus.

  13. Well when you get Ben Neece's support, you get Juan Montoya's support. Montoya's trying to tell us that this fresa is a "Brownsville native." Yeah, Juanito, he sounds about as native as those living in Matamoros crossing over on Mondays to attend BISD or drive in their Escalades to go to St. Joseph's.

    1. Would this Mexican make Matamoros Querido the city anthem of Brownsville?

    2. at the end of the day being a "fresa" or "punk" or "jock" or any other ridiculous high school term you still use, is nothing more but a joke or a way kids categorized themselves based on how they dressed, music they listened too etc... this isn't a high school election and we're not kids anymore. De Leon is a true Brownsville native who was raised here, understands the problems of our city and is committed to make a positive change.

  20. Just because someone is bilingual and speaks perfect Spanish doesn't mean they are not from here. People may comment on him being from Mexico or Matamoros just because he speaks good Spanish, well let me tell you those are the most ignorant comments. People who can't speak spanish properly are always the ones that hate and complain of bilinguals. I truly do not understand these type of ignorant comments. This a well-educated gentleman that can and will make proper decisions for this city and that will make a name for himself and not work on behalf of anyone else.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Mexicans and Cesar are making his bilingualism an issue. You are right about "making a name for himself." He doesn't have a name so he wants to get elected to get a name.

Hi Cesar. Oh excuse me.... ¡Hola César!

  21. Most of the comments above indicate that no one knows who he is or anything about him? So, who is he and what is the big deal about him speaking "perfect" Spanish.....most of our city is illiterate in both English and Spanish.....REGARDLESS!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That is "IRREGARDLESS", pocho. Get it right.

      Delete
    2. "Irregardless" is a commonly used word but is considered to be non-standard and not a proper word in the English language. I just wonder if this guy will vote of his own accord on city issues or if will he do as he is told to do. Where does he
stand on the Lincoln Park issue?

  22. So the rumor is that:

    1. Ben Neece has Libertarian views on the failed war on drugs and is in a party that advocates the legalization of the dreaded weed (like half of the states in the Union and more than 50% of the population).

    2. He supports young professionals with legal backgrounds and the proven analytical skills necessary to pass the State Bar and establish a practice law.

    3. He supports young candidates that care enough about their hometown to move back and try to make a difference.

    4. He supports young candidates that speak English and Spanish fluently, even though they live on the border with America's biggest trading partner and during a time of great potential for our border community.

    5. He supports progressive young minds that don't quibble about personalities, but look at real issues affecting the eeconomic viability of our city.

What an asshole Neece is! We demand corruption, not independent minds.

We need to let ignorance prevail, like the obviously ignorant racial slurs and personal attacks stated above.

The ignorance reflected above is a mirror image of the politics of Roman, Rick and the other ojetes, who attack people, not their ideas, and who want to let this city miss out on the greatest opportunities that it has seen in decades.

Yeah, let's remain ignorant, like the fool who claims De Leon is trying to make a name for himself. We should instead discourage him from trying to make a difference in his community and have him strive for mediocrity, like this city deserves.

    1. Spin it however you like but it changes nothing......he is a Tony Martinez plant that will continue to plunder the city's assets to benefit his friends. ...He couldn't care less about the city and it's people no matter how you spin it.

  23. I can not get past this horrible picture to even listen to what he has to say. He is already making poor decisions by using this introduction photo. Matamoros Glamor Shot . Where has that finger been?

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's a horrible first add, it almost looks like his name is Cesarde. A new vision for Brownsville.com feels like he's going to redo their website.

  25. My family and I support Cesar De Leon!! He is a person who simply wishes too improve the quality of life for the people of our city and is one of the few who is actually willing too do something about it! For those unaware, in his announcement speech, Cesar spoke about the need for all of us to unite and come together as a community too improve our city. It's not about him making a name for himself.. it is simply most people don't know him yet. He is young, motivated and willing to break any stagnant political relationships for the benefit of our city. It's ridiculous some people are making racial comments about Cesar and questioning his loyalty to our city.. Cesar grew up here in Brownsville.. it is his town as much as it is any one else who grew up here..

    ReplyDelete

    1. Forget the making a name for himself.....he's got a right to do that, but not at the expense of the community. "Stagnant political relationships" describes his connection to Mayor Martinez and Galonsky perfectly.
