I see there were seaweed problems back then too.
ReplyDeletewho are these dwarves? Were they later eaten by the Karankawas? crazy shit posting, Jim
ReplyDeleteThe things that catch my attention in this picture : 1) The seaweed (that also means that the beach was not messed up by too many humans) 2) The Runyons were an upper middle class Brownsville family so they went to the beach all dressed up? Robert Runyon was a prominent photographer during a time when taking a photo was something like a"big deal" A lot of his photography is part of the University of Texas historical collection. There are pictures of prominent mexican revolutionaries in Matamoros and in Brownsville, also politicians and even the common individual in downtown Brownsville in an era where downtown was booming (not like now filled with oriental junk and second hand stores). Do you have any of those pictures Mr. Barton? Who is the young man next to the gentleman in the dark suit? He is the only one barefooted which makes me think he is not part of the family?
ReplyDeleteHave fun. You can search by name, etc.
