  3. It is obvious that Pat Ahumada is feeding you garbage Mr. Barton. I do not know what you have against commissioner Longoria, but you are way off the deep end. Pat Ahumada is jelous of Rick Longoria because he is a true leader. A leader is not one that proposes items on the agenda and not have them pass. They are placed on the agenda to be discussed and compromised on by the rest of the court, to find a consensus, something Pat was never able to do. So if you placed items on the agenda and did noty get anything passed, what kind of leader are you? Just a thought.

  6. Anonymous, you are misinformed or paranoid. First of all, Rick clearly stated that he would not support anything I proposed, even if it was good for Brownsville. So, the petty and jealous person was Rick who does not know what public service is about. Second of all, I am not feeding Jim Barton anything on Rick. Jim Barton needs not help from me, Rick does very well on his own to discredit himself and makes it obvious he cares more about the freebies he can get than he does about his constituents. Then there is the matter of my proposal, which many passed and some failed, which is the way politics is. Now, should I run again, I will not run alone, but with a united team for Brownsville to take out the pettiness and jealousy factor of people like Rick who has yet to introduce any initiatives that I know of. It is best to be engaged, introduce initiatives to improve our city with the fact that some will pass and some will not. Should I run, you can cast your Anonymous vote against and vote for the status quo. To those who are asking me to run, thank you. If I do decide to run for mayor, my pledge is to continue as I started by bringing transparency to the commission and not be afraid to say no to special interest when NO needs to be said.

    1. The idea of running with a slate of candidates is appealing, but it would be even better if 8 or 10 candidates vied for each political position in Brownsville. Austin is holding council elections and has more than 30 candidates. Yes, it's single-member districts and the city has 10 (plus mayor), but such a plate of candidates gives voters a real choice. Mana-a-Mano as Brownsville is playing it is no "choice." Pat Ahumada is making promises again, and we all know about candidate promises. Shine the light on good public servants and give them their due credit. Say "Adios" to the Carlos Cascos way of serving; that is, faking political affiliation. Joe Rivera is a dinosaur. His era passed a decade ago. The Lucios are doing nothing and Rene Oliveira is just another Joe Rivera. Sometimes, it's best to clear the dugout and start over.

    2. So you are putting a team together huh? As long as you are the "quarterback" right? For those that plan of being part of the "team", be warned, Ahumada is an attention hog that likes public office for the sole purpose of meeting women, he cares nothing about this community, he is a liar and a predator of weak minded people that will serve his agenda. The man is a joke, and will lose horribly against a monkey, if the case presented itself. He does not get through his thick skull that people do not want him in office, and it will be a cold day in hell, he gets elected for anything.

    3. When has an incumbent Mayor had four candidates challenge him for re-election and come in dead last, not even getting one thousand votes? That is right, Ahumada.

  8. Anonymous, I am not even going to respond. Anonymous you are entitled to your opinions and one vote, but on the blogs no one takes you seriously as you do multiple postings pretending to be an army of many, when you are only one from a few disgruntled people who do not have the courage to stand up for what you believe in, must less be a person who people can take seriously. I am being asked and am talking to people directly. If it is meant to be, it will be. If anyone wants to share their thoughts with me, please feel free to email me at ahumadapat@aol.com. As always, I have been accessible and transparent.

  12. Thanks Anonymous 1:13 PM. Read the 8:55 AM post, in which Chris blasts me for wanting to be the quarterback, which goes to show how petty this guy is. Every football team has a quarterback, which applies to any team effort in sports or real life. This guy thinks that there is something wrong with the mayor being the quarterback. It takes a team effort, which requires everyone to do there part to make the touch downs for our city. Everyone is key, no one is less important, but without a quarterback on the field or in real life in a corporation, you have chaos. He does not seem to get it, like Atkinson who challenged me by saying he had seniority, therefore, he should be the quarterback. This showed on the commission with his pettiness and jealousies causing division and chaos. If he wanted to be the quarterback, then he should have run for mayor. People like this never introduce anything and just want their egos fed. I am in it for Brownsville, I know the city better than anyone and know what it entails to be mayor. Unfortunately, we need people who can set aside their egos and if I run, it will be in a slate that will work united for Brownsville. It is if, I run? I am talking to people and will decide when the decision needs to be made, not when Anonymous wants me to make a decision.

  13. Well I think that you have more support than you realize. ....people are tired of the mayor and his gang continuously ripping off the citizens to enrich themselves. Think it over and your faith will help you make the right decision. .....good luck!

  17. Whoever is stupid enough to join with Ahumada as a slate, does not know what they are getting into. He seeks a slate so the slate can work for him, because he knows he can not garner any support. Do not be fooled by this fool. They say that only a crazy person listens to a another crazy person.....don't be crazy

  18. Anonymous, 7:07 AM-It must worry you that some trust and believe in me to go off the deep end bashing anyone who would run with me in a slate without knowing who they are. Neither of the individuals that have been asking me to run are stupid and both know very well what they are getting into, because they do not like the direction our city has taken with your help. So, I guess the only stupid person or who does not know what they are doing is you, who has helped lead out city into a special interest agenda. When I was asked to consider running, my condition is that they run with me, because I did not want to get elected with having bunch of morons bickering, pushing personal agendas, grandstanding, being petty, jealous or not know that it takes a team effort to serve our community. Elected officials must put their personal agenda's aside, balance the city agenda with the interest and priorities of the people we serve. You Anonymous, prefers the indifference, chaos, and egotistical agendas. You can vote for the other side, continue on your path of self serving individuals. I and others prefer to stand up for Brownsville by making our city the agenda......

  20. I have served twice as mayor and can point to many accomplishments, but being an outsider it was not easy due to the egos, pettiness and jealousies on the commission, which diverts from the mission to serve. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing and politically having the upper hand over another, but there is something terrible wrong when people like Atkinson get in and are just plain divisive, disruptive, and ego driven that it destroys all common ground to make the city the agenda. Atkinson is a classic example of what is wrong in public service, this guy had no respect and always tried to prove he had power. His pettiness knew no boundaries, he respected no one and was a bully hiding like cowards do behind the shield of public service. Based on this, when being asked to run, I said no. Now, based on the insistence, I said I would consider it, providing that we run as a slate, otherwise, why should I seek the mayor's position, only to have another Atkinson at the table to undermine the city agenda out of pure self serving interest or by someone who could care less about the city and prefers to undermine what is good for the city by fighting and disrespecting others when they disagree. I defended my positions and fought hard for what was in the city's best interest, with some success and some failures, but all were introduced to improve our city. You cannot point to where I put my personal agenda before the city, or that I was not transparent, accessible, and that I did not work hard for our city. You also cannot say, I was afraid to stand u p for the citizens of Brownsville against special interest, because often I was the only one to stand up against special interest. You, sir who calls people stupid without knowing them, just because they would run with me is the epitome of why Brownsville loses out on so many opportunities. Brownsville has so much more than other cities, but it is the crazy people like you with their hate that holds our city back. And for people to listen to you, must be crazy, but like you said it takes a crazy to understand another crazy. You must be surrounded by crazy people. My accomplishments clearly stand for what can be done and more, providing we elect a team of people who will put aside their egos, pettiness and jealousies to make our city the agenda and we will do this, should I decide to run for mayor.
