Is Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto Orchestrating the Violence in Northern Tamaulipas?

President Enrique Pena Nieto
The website proceso.com.mx reported something they claimed to have gleaned from United States intelligence, that the recent surge of violence in northern Tamaulipas was not, in actuality, the result of cartels battling for territorial control.

Actually, Nena and I had heard this before, speaking to a naturalized U.S. citizen, knowledgeable about Mexican politics:  "Jim and Nena, the PRI and Nieto will not attack the drug cartels like Calderon tried to do, because that does not work.  Nieto will tell them to sell your shit to the U.S., but leave the citizens of Mexico alone."

A Proceso article dated June 7, 2013 says something similar, that the federal strategy under President Nieto is to allow the Sinaloa Cartel in tandem with the Gulf Cartel to "clean up" by ridding the area of Los Zetas, known for terrorizing citizens with extortion and kidnappings.

The claim is that the Mexican army and navy have "enabled" clashes between the groups and "guaranteed" that drugs would be allowed to flow north.

The claim is that the 2014 Tamaulipas violence is not the result of cartel against cartel fighting as much as "new conditions' created by the "Government of Enrique Pena Nieto."  The article says "elimination of elements of the Zetas is goal of this action.  Here is a rough English translation:  "The intelligence reports that we've collected what happens in Tamaulipas, especially in Nuevo Laredo, they reveal that more than a struggle for the square (to smuggle drugs to the United States), which pound the Gulf Cartel against Los Zetas is to put an end to the terror that these last have undergone population".

Yet, another comment:  "The intention is to contain the violence against the civilian population, that is which aims to make the Gulf Cartel and those who support it in this,"he adds.

None of the above is reflected in President Nieto's public comments where he says he will continue the fight against the drug cartels, not cutting any deals with them.

So what are you saying, Jim? That he's a hero? What the US needs to do it to nuke the hell out of Mexico City, while Medina naps.. The sooner, the better.

  2. Mexico's violence against civil population is mostly non-narco trafficking delinquents holding up and kidnapping trying to blame their actions to the drug cartels, uneven distribution of wealth is the reason causing this phenomenon, which have the government scared for being so close to a Revolution VIVA LA REVOLUCION!!! AI VIENE PANCHO VILLA CABRONES!!!!

  3. And, the sooner we de-criminalize the Mexican "shit", the sooner we can reduce the influence of the cartels. If they can't sell their "shit" then they face going broke. Unfortunately, the Mexican government has been part of the problem for too, too long and we can expect that much of the cartel money goes into the pockets of Mexican politicians.....just like on this side of the border.

  4. Legalizing the dope will not make the cartels poor; or dampen their efforts. In fact, it will make them even more richer and powerful. They have the means to take out any competition no matter what change in laws you make. You are sadly mistaken on the gravity and power of the cartels.
