Brownsville's Downtown, Constantly Changing~Bars Close, Bars Open, Bars Reopen

Inside Peek at the Remodeled Palm Lounge, 8th & Elizabeth, the old haunt of bloggers Juan Montoya and Jerry Mchale in their Brownsville Herald Days.  The old lounge featured a metal trough behind a curtain for urination.

The Domino's Bar, located on the bottom floor of the Cameron Hotel, moved across the street on E. 9th and morphed into Las Vegas Nights
A Group from Mexico has leased and is remodeling the bottom floor of the Manatou Building in E. 12th, a whopping 6,000 sq. ft.  It is next to the former Bora Bora Club that used to utilize the parking around Market Square.  It's doubtful anyone has told the Mexican investors that the city plans to eliminate the parking around Market Square for a green space.
Remodeling taking place at 1249 E. Adams for a "new" La Movida Nueva, replacing the other one down the block.
Two lots fenced in for work to start on the new Downtown Parking Garage

  2. Only in Brownsville does it happen every month......This sort of proves that there is little future in the downtown area.....only a place for bars named "Movida".

  3. We have bars and we have city government. What a place for business.
