Octogenerian Politiquera Herminia Becerra Doing Her Thing with A Walker

Longtime Politiquera Herminia Becerra Pushes Walker with Campaign Signs
(photo from BROWNSVILLE VOICE)

Herminia Becerra told us proudly two years ago in front of the "Abelardo Gomez for Constable" tent: "For the last 50 years, no one wins unless I say so!"

What's disturbing about the candidate signs on her walker is that Becerra, according to those who've known her for years, does nothing for candidates without getting paid.  Of course, her activity above, advertising candidates on her walker, is not illegal. But, after all of the publicity the issue of voter fraud has received recently and Mrs. Becerra's close identification with it, how could some of the young candidates she's promoting lack the sensitivity to this issue enough to let her represent them?  It will be interesting to hear the spin of these candidates or their representatives on this.

Voting records show, that during the 2010 elections, the vast majority of homes in Becerra's neighborhood voted through mail-in ballots.
The signs I can recognize include:  Mary Esther Garcia, Candidate for JP, Precinct 2-3, Joe Rivera, Candidate for County Judge, Alex Dominguez, Candidate for County Commissioner, District 2 and Juan Magallanes, Candidate for 357th District Court Judge.

  1. Interesting observation. It would probably be a good idea to pay her for promoting your political opponent in an effort to trash reputations in local circles. With all the corruption around here...Who knows?

  2. Hermina is a relic of the Dumbokratic Party and the corrupt culture of Dumbokratic politics in Cameron County. Her arrogance is reflective of the arrogance of her party and the culture of corruption that has plagued this county for years. She takes pride in abusing the election system....which she surely does. She takes pride in her fraud against the election system. She is proud that she exploits the system for financial gain. She should be investigated, but at her age, that would not be politically correct.....for Dumbokrats anyway.

  3. Trash... all of them. How many of these pieces of trash denounced her and are now using her… desperate rats. All of them.

    1. The ignorance reflected in your statement is the problem.

  5. Sir, isn't it obvious! Look at the connection with all the candidates she is endorsing and the tie back to the old political cronies in Cameron County. Like Sofia Benavides, Gilbert Hinojosa, etc. They are trying to make sure they keep things going status quo; by getting their children and next of kin elected. They motto appears to be "out with the old, back with the same, just a different name! SAD!!!

  6. You could elect Jesus Christ County Judge and it would not make any difference. Regarding the comments about "Mexicans", just shows your ignorance. It is not "Mexicans", who happen to be some of the most talented, brightest and wealthiest people in the world, it is Brownsville's special breed of Tex-Mex stupidity and backwardness. On the whole, the elite of Matamoros are much more sophisticated and educated than their counterparts in Brownsville, not to even mention Monterrey. By the way, I am a gringo.

  8. Have you been turned into a newt, or what? Your torch and pitchfork approach to vilifying Herminia Becerra reminds me of the Monty Python movie where villagers want to drown a woman to prove she's not a witch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp_l5ntikaU. Nowhere in your story do you state flatly and unequivocally that Mrs. Becerra has committed a crime but you certainly go out of your way to make sure we are left with the impression that she is a lowly criminal. As ugly and witchy as you portray her, Mrs Becerra is trying to make a buck barking for candidates, something not much different than much more expensive advertising agencies or television or blogs. There is nothing illegal in what she is doing. Period. If you have knowledge or information that she has harvested votes for money, prove it. The feds haven't done so yet. I, too, believe that Mrs Becerra has been a wart on our political process, but that caricature is based solely on hearsay, much like when you write: "according to those who've known her for years, (she) does nothing for candidates without getting paid" Really? Who are these geniuses? Hey, try getting a handjob downtown for free. Like migrant work, screaming and shouting candidates' names is unskilled, seasonal labor, unemployable people trying to make a couple hundred bucks to buy their grandkids a fancy phone.

    1. Hearsay my ass! Ask her how her son got hired by "Aweful"Abe Gomez after she harvested votes for him. If she had my political sign on her walker I'd kick it right out from under her and place my opponents sign on her walker to make them look bad. Idiots like you are the problem with why Brownsville is a f--ing rancho

    2. Your logic reminds me of the Mexican definition of a homosexual: the one that gets it up the butt is the only one that's a queer. Instead of going after Mrs Becerra why not go after the candidates, especially if you know of a quid pro quo between Gomez and Mrs Becerra? Ask her? Is that the best you can come up with? Sounds like "everybody knows" or "according to those who've known her for years". Mrs Becerra is small time, a petty political polyp, no different than most politiqueras who thrive not because it was their lifelong ambition to become professional shills but because there are candidates that will pay them. No, I'm afraid Brownsville is a fucking rancho because of short-sighted biscos like you who want to rub an egg on the symptoms of corruption instead of going after its cause.

    3. As usual, you totally miss the point or try to distort the point. No one is "going after" Ms. Becerra. Who cares about her? We're merely demonstrating that several young, new wave candidates are going back into the sewer of identification with politiqueras, voter fraud, etc.

Focus, if you're able, not on Becerra, a known entity, but on the campaigns foolishly using her advertising skills, despite the urgent need for a clean up.

I doubt I can put it more simply.

  9. nice lil' bit of UT-Arlington creative writing. . . .Brownsville needs devil's advocates as much as they need devils. I'm told more evidence was turned over to the F.B.I. about this lady than the two that were indicted, prosecuted, convicted, but, at this point, she is a free woman, plying her trade at the Brownsville library.

Anyway, those of us who actually live here tire of voter fraud. It sort of takes the wind out of our sails. . It's like driving 100 miles in the hill country to a barbecue joint, only to find it "CLOSED."

  10. The so-called experts, (CAVA and Chris Davis come to mind), continue to chase the old school politiqueras such as the nursing homes and old ladies with their walkers around the parking lots...meanwhile, the well oiled DummoKratic political machines continue to harvest votes by the buckets! Well-funded nonprofits such as Ninos Head Start and Cameron-Willacy County Projects have been hedging their bets for GENERATIONS!
    Duh.

I would like to know where this Anonymous got his information concerning her son that got a job with Abe Gomez. Sounds to me like this person is blowing air out his wazoo! However, if this person has personal knowledge, I would like to offer an invite to discuss this information.
