Is Brownsville Finally Sick and Tired of Ernie Hernandez?

"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated," Mark Twain once said.  The political passing of the Ernie Hernandez, the unscrupulous Brownsville sleezebag, has been forecast several times, only to see the self-serving politico rise from the dead, steal yet another election and mock the electorate one more time.

Brownsville voters have a slow draw.  The loquacious, grandstanding Patricio Ahumada finally got on voter's nerves after two terms of office.  Despite touring Brownsville in a Mustang convertible with Cepillin the Clown behind an American Surveillance lead car, the incumbent dog lover garnered only a pitiful 9% of the mayoral vote in 2011.

The year before voters gave Cro-Magnon bully City Commissioner Charlie Atkinson the heave-ho. As a neighbor of Atkinson explained at the time:  "I would vote for a mesquite tree in District 2 before I would vote for Charlie Atkinson."

So, has Ernie Hernandez, after milking every possible coin out of the city and county for three decades, finally worn out his proverbial welcome?  It may even turn into a pig pile with the F.B.I. finally turning the screws on Ernie's shadiness in getting his felonious brother-in-law a job at a border bridge, the I.R.S. taking out a lien on Ernie's house for non-payment of taxes and indictments for the election fraud necessary in 2010 for Ernie to steal the election from Ruben Pena.
