Lozano Family Opens Tequilas Restaurant & Cantina Downtown

Tequilas Restaurant & Cantina, 9th & E. Adams St.

In an historic Chevrolet dealership downtown across from the old fire station, the Humberto Lozano family has crafted a restaurant and cantina.  Family patriarch Humberto Lozano, who still maintains the city's best auto repair shop at 2624 E. 13th St., Brownsville, states that the remodeling took approximately eight months.  The high end flooring, counters,  solid wood bar and musical stage illustrate the family's attention to detail.(Even the air-conditioning return vents are covered with stained wood.)

Humberto, Jr. and Lanie Lozano manage the restaurant while Humberto, Sr., Rosa, Daniel and Leslie Lozano run the auto/truck repair shop and a used car outlet on Boca Chica just beyond Four Corners.

While the restaurant emphasizes traditional Mexican cuisine, the full-service bar offers beer, wine, mixed drinks and tequilas.

  1. Anyone who's been there - how's the food?

Also, trying to picture where downtown this is.
