Corrupt Politicians Are People Too~Norma, Erin, Ernie, Masso, Baseball

Erin H. Garcia, Norma Hernandez
"Today is the last day to vote early friends! I can't do this without your vote! Please take a group of friends and head to an early voting site and vote Erin H. Garcia for JP"

The above announcement that appeared on my Facebook newsfeed was almost stunning in its normalcy.  Perhaps, getting so occupied with voter fraud, politiqueras, corrupted mail-ins has made me forget that even politicos that cheat still campaign somewhat, have a base of support including legitimate voters and do much of the work that honest candidates perform.

Polls prior to the recent primaries showed Erin H. Garcia consistantly in the low 30's in percentage of actual support.  Among the JP candidates in the Democratic primary, Erin was the only candidate to receive substantially more votes than polls indicated, but she still trailed Yolanda Begum by 500 votes.  In the runoff, the Hernandezes and their politiqueras, van drivers and strategically placed poll workers and election judges pulled out all the stops, blatantly so, to "win."

Ignoring for a moment the obvious fraud the family utilizes, it still takes tremendous coordination, actual work to manage the politiqueras, van drivers, adult day care employees and others involved in what is obviously a well-organized political machine.  Without that machine, Ernie Hernandez, Jr. would not be a County Commissioner today, nor would his daughter Erin be the Democratic nominee for JP, 2-2.  Norma Hernandez has to receive strong consideration for the 2012 Mean Mister Brownsville Public Disservice Award(Armando Villalobos garnered the 2011 honor well before his actual indictment.).  Like the Zetas, La Cosa Nostra and other notorious crime families, the Hernandezes cannot be rightfully accused of having no work ethic.

Jose Canseco
Rio Grande Valley Whitewings
The Hernandezes are in some ways not dissimilar to Jose Canseco, former major leaguer,  who played baseball at a very high level with the aid of "performance enhancing drugs."  There is no doubt that Canseco could actually play baseball.  He was highly skilled.  It's just that the illegal drugs added an indeterminable extra strength and power to his abilities, allowing him to garner awards he did not deserve as well as accomplishments noted in the sport's record books he did not achieve honestly.  He cheapened, dishonored, disgraced the game, depriving other honest, non-cheating ballplayers of deserved recognition.  While no one could question Canseco's work ethic, skill or pre-cheating performances, he is an absolute disgrace to the game just as the Hernandezes have disgraced county and city government.

Has Carlos Masso Found A Job Yet?

Luis Saenz, Carlos Masso
Public Reconciliation
Do you remember how, shortly after the July 31 runoff election, Ernie Hernandez proposed creating a new Justice of the Peace position for Carlos Masso, the loser in the DA race?  This was alleged to have been a political payback for Masso picking up the financial slack for the money drained Erin H. Garcia JP campaign.  Van drivers, politiqueras, home heathcare workers who delivered the elderly, disabled and mentally challenged all had to be paid.  That proposal for a new JP position seems to have been tabled.

But, now that Saenz and Masso have seemingly buried the hatchet, would it surprise anyone if Masso ends up in the Luis Saenz version of the district attorney office, should Saenz win the election?  Again, corrupt politicians are people too.

  2. It's good to see that another outspoken person, with intellect and the ability to reason, can recognize Saenz as part of the corrupt crowd, and speak out about it. It is my greatest hope for the next 80 hours that the majority of Cameron County voters will recognize him for what he is ~ and vote against him! Every vote for Saenz is a vote against decency and justice for Cameron County residents.

  3. It's sad when you have two evils running for this race and both suck. This does not leave much for the civil democrat to vote for since both canidates carry much corrupt luggage with them. This will be another sad day for the descent people of Brownsville, & Cameron County when one of the baffons wins this race. Also, the woman standing next to Urin looks like a transvestite. Is that a woman?

  4. Luis Saenz told us in many ways that Masso was criminal, corrupt to the core and we believed him and voted for Saenz, now we see him embracing him and being endorsed by a criminal, where are his principles?

NOOOOOOOH! That should be "decent" and that should be "buffoons." It's too late for this post, but now you know when you next use these words in a comment.

  7. To the 12:51 poster, you really cross the line! I hope Erin petitions Google for your IP address and makes you eat your trash! Show some proof, pictures, internal emails, something that supports your accusations of the supposed acts of voter fraud by these people. Talk is cheap and I hope Erin wins!

  9. In our world today there is to much evil going on and life is too short. We get caught up in our moments, and say spiteful things about others that shuold not be said because its wrong. I would not like if someone said anything about a family member of mine. The bible says too treat everybody nicley, and he deals with the rest. So we move on in our lives cuz this life is too short. People be nice to each other.

  12. Jim it is obvious you got half of this right and half wrong. The Erin part is correct but you are way off with Luis Saenz. Saenz has prosecuted elected officials and he will do it again. Even Yolanda is behind Luis Saenz, it seems only you aren't. It's OK Jim every person is in title to mistakes even you.

That should be "entitled," not "in title". Also, you need commas before and after Jim. Got that, ya funny guy?

  14. Saenz is going to win the election. He is a great man and will do great things for Cameron County. Masso was dirty in his race for the DA spot. He did a lot of not so nice things to Saenz during that runoff. Masso knows Saenz is going to win which is probably why he is KISSING ASS. Mattingly will not make a good DA. He is hard to work with, has a terrible attitude, and let's face it he is not far from the corruption cookie jar himself.

  16. Lost in the all the phony political rhetoric is the examination of the ACTUAL skill set Saenz processes to be the people's prosecutor. This man couldn't even get a conviction against Pat Ahumada. A weak lawyer at best.....The song remains the same....

  17. Wait a minute! Don't you all remember Suzy Mowbray??????? How can you vote for a creep that purposely withheld expert testimony for the sake of his convictions record. After years in prison, she was released because she was innocent! Is this the kind of DA we really want????
