AOBE President Patrick Hammes Making Odd Moves

Patrick Hammes
With the BISD Board of Trustees manipulated by a RICO convicted felon, Carlos Quintanilla of Dallas, the Association of Brownsville Educators or AOBE certainly COULD be an agent for clean elections.

But now, it appears the AOBE itself may be a weak pawn, easily maneuvered by outside interlopers.  Patrick Hammes, the president of the association recently confirmed his connection to Austin con artist and Brownsville Cheezmeh guru Erasmo Castro Dragustinovis, by announcing the group's BISD Candidate Forum on the Brownsville Cheezmeh site.  Why would the president of the AOBE announce his association's candidate forum on a politiquera site?

Since Cheezmeh has made it known they are backing two candidates for BISD trustee, Linda Gill and Donald Clupper, does this action by Hammes not compromise the objectivity of the group?  Why would a candidate for BISD trustee participate in a tainted, manipulated discussion or debate influenced by the opposition?

Dragustinovis, with what's left of his so-called watchdog group tried to sell candidates in the recent elections on the powerful voting influence of the Cheezmeh faithful, said to be some 5,000 strong.  The selling point was primarily last years victory in a City Commission race involving Jessica Tetreau-Kalifa and Charlie Atkinson and the defeat of the infamous Fly Frontera Airline proposal.  Of course, what Erasmo didn't tell gullible, spendthrift candidates is that the major players in last years Cheezmeh "victories" had left the group do to Erasmo's tyranny and the tiny nucleus of middle-aged women left wearing Cheezmeh shirts were powerless.  Thus, 3 out of four of Cheezmeh candidates in the last elections lost.  One candidate, Erin H. Garcia, utilized blatant election fraud to "win".

Hammes' announcement could easily have been sent via email to AOBE members, but perhaps his alignment with Cheezmeh indicates a favoring of certain candidates who will "win" the debate and the AOBE endorsement.  Aligning with a politiquera group does not pass the smell test.

Sylvia Garza-Perez
Oh, in addition to inviting Brownsville Cheezmeh to the AOBE function, Hammes has also invited Sylvia Garza-Perez, the Democratic Chairperson designate.  Perez will be in good company as she has a sordid history of political corruption and is incidentally the niece of Herminia Becerra, the "Queen of the Politiqueras."

  1. Rest assured that Patrick Hammes is going to destroy the AOBE just out of pure ignorance. He has no business or clue as to what it takes to be a Labor Leader. All he is good for is disruption. He had the audacity to try and endorse candidates AGAINST what the previous AOBE administration had agreed to before he had any authority to do so. TEACHERS BEWARE... By some incredible miracle you all have managed to elect the biggest idiot as your LEADER.

  2. It is a shame that Albert Alegria is no longer the Teachers Union President. He is the only one to have an understanding of true Union Leadership.

  3. The AOBE is a sell out just like Sylvia Perez and Brownsville Cheezmeh. I can't beleive the low or lack of morals from the AOBE. Why would they announce on the Brownsville Cheezmeh page? Aren't they supposebly professionals and they involve themselves in gossip and what Erasmo tells the people want because he gets so many inbox messages. The people that beleive Erasmo are SUCKERS. He will take your money and move on to the next SUCKER. There is one born every minute.

  4. It is a sad day in Brownsville when the largest employee union in Brownsville has elected and is led by an incompetant so called leader by the name Patrick Hammes. To actually give any worth to the likes of the Cheez group is just unbelievable. What a joke in leadership. It is hard to believe teachers are intelligent when they can't even elect a respectable union president ... wow.

  5. NOT ALL TEACHERS in BISD belong to this "UNION", and even the ones that do, are NOT obligated to vote for anyone they dont like or agree with.
Teachers in TEXAS DO NOT have the "power" the teacher's union has in places like Chicago. In Texas, if Teachers go on strike they will all be fired (just like Ronald Reagan did with the traffic controllers in the 1980's).
The best "tool" or power any American citizen has today is the power to VOTE. If you have a high voter turnout, even the "fraud" makers can be beaten. Dont just write your comments on the blogs, USE YOUR voter registration card in a POSITIVE WAY and VOTE. Whoever your candidate, belief or ideal is, the opportunity is in the voting booth where you are alone and YOU know who you voted for. In the 1980's there was a commercial on tv and radio during elections "If you dont vote, DONT COMPLAIN" get it? I dont know this man, but if he is the president of this "union" it is because its members voted him in; let them check their constitution and vote him out if it doesnt meet their proper statues and let us continue with our local soap opera.

  6. Hammes is a legend in his own mind, and he thinks that just because he has perfected the craft of the organized bureaucrat that he has also hung the moon. Pat is a vindictive small minded man who has convinced himself that what is good for him is necessarily good for everyone else.
Just quit AOBE and join ATPE, it is cheaper and has the same coverage, and Hammes will never step down, he will either have to be recalled or voted out next election.

  8. My, my. Lot of angst running around. How does anything ever get done in Browntown when its residents bounce about like headless chickens? Sounds insane. Why go into a panic at the first sign of a problem? Must be the Mexican brain.

    1. The little ant hill will fight its way to the top of the grass line, its time on the surface dependent solely on the lawn mower blades of the bigger organism. Being relegated to the border as its geographic location didn't help, but the ants never did get with the community program. That's the Brown Ant for you, son.

  11. It's very evident that some of the competing organizations are behind some of this commentary and they would want nothing more than to increase their membership. That said, certified and classified employee's need to understand that none of the organizations are unions. Unions are not allowed in Texas and if you screw up big time, you're going to loose your job. Now from personal experience AOBE has dropped the ball on a lot of its members. With all that has happened to its members, they have had to go out and hire their own attorney. If that is the case, why are we paying over $500 bucks a year for protection by an organization that pays an old man $90,000 a year to go and represent a member and the guy isn't even an attorney! Also, TSTA now wants local officers to be trained to do the job of representing members during the grievance process. I don't want a clerk or a secretary that happens to be a board member, to represent me when my livelihood is on the line. With respect to the president they elected, I believe he won with less than a hundred votes cast for him. From over 4,000 members, that is shameful! I sure hope more than a hundred teachers take the time to vote for the upcoming school board elections!

  12. The Valley lives in a state of Existential Nihilism, although most of the carbon units have no concept of Existentialism or Nihilism. In other words the fact that we may be so stupid that it does not matter what we try to do, because all is lost any way and we will continue stumble on through life with not care in the world.

It's difficult to describe but I think that the all out despair that is the makeup of the semi intelligent life forms that make up the proper Valley inhabitant in some way has created kind of bliss that almost seems reptilian.

Doesn’t it seem like lizards are always smiling?
